Re: I want that 100/25 Mbps tier

I feel that it's completely fair to charge a high volume user a higher premium to use a network. People that use that much bandwidth stress networks and cause a poorer experience for everyone.

250 GB = high volume?
You realize that this is a 100 mbit/s account? That is about 5 hours of sustained use.

Giving people a 100mbit/s account with only 250 GB's is a big slap in the fucking face. Its a little like false advertisement.

If comcast can't offer a monthly service that will work for more than 5 hours of sustained use , who's fault do you think that is? the customer? Just because you don't mind bending over and taking it doesn't mean I like it. For many consumers the cable company is a Monopoly over their internet service ( me included).

Agreed, It is bullshit.

clever proxy is blaming other customers for bad user experiences instead of his cable provider which gives a new meaning to corporate apologist.

Re: Comcap

I give a flying fuck because Comcast is a demon, rapidly consuming other ISPs and leading the way in the spread of horrific policies. The nation's largest cable monopoly that is only getting bigger.

FYI: I saturate my connection all month every month.

That about sums it up very nicely. For many people comcap holds a monopoly over their internet. These types of policies resonate through out the country.

Dood i love my connection but to keep it taxed for a home connection like that is like running around your house and turning everything on to just see the meter spin faster, just because you can doesn't mean you should, common sense,i am all for them leaving my connection alone but don't poke a sleeping bear.

Economy tier

Not too bad speed for entry tier. Wonder what the price is? RR Lite (TWC) is 128k/768k for 34.95. Over priced. Verizon does 384k/1024k for 19.99 dry loop.

That analogy would make sense if bandwidth were a limited resource like Comcap seems to have brainwashed their minions in to believing

Putting some arbitrary limit on bandwidth usage like it's a fossil fuel is ridiculous. Usage has nothing to do with congestion, overall capacity does.

Biz customers also grandfathered on 22/5?

So I assume I will be grandfathered in as a business class customer as well for the 22/5 plan?

I'd LOVE to get bumped to 50/10 for free, but somehow it seems unlikely.

The question will be, what does the pricing look like for the 20/4 and 50/10 after the plan shake up. If 50/10 is more than 22/5, I wonder by how much? And will 20/4 be cheaper than 22/5? I'd hate to take a hit on the upstream (which is what I care more about), but if it's a significant price drop from 22/5 to the new 20/4, I'll consider it. Likewise, if we're talking a $10 increase to go 22/5 to 50/10 I'd also consider it.

All that said, I am still suffering from FiOS withdrawals...I miss my 25/25 connection. The symmetrical thing is REALLY nice. Too bad we'll never see it on Comcast. Honestly, I'd much rather a 20/20 (or even 15/15) connection than 50/10, but I know I'm in the minority here.

I am sure now that they have worked out the bugs with channel bonding upstreams you will see much higher upload speeds coming.

Doesn't sound that way from the article. They mention "higher upload speeds" at the end of 2010, but even supposing they do implement channel bonding, I wonder what that will do to the tiers they offer. I mean, will they augment their existing asymmetrical tiers with a 10/10, 25/25, 50/50 set of tiers? I just don't see it happening, at least not globally. Perhaps in FiOS areas to compete with the whole "our upstream is just as important as downstream" angle Verizon has pushed in FiOS areas.

I'm just a pessimist I guess I'd LOVE to see symmetrical or closer-to-symmetrical speed tiers offered towards the end of 2010!

The low upload speeds we see now were due to lack of bandwidth on the upstream channel, just like they have done with the downstream i assume they will increase the upsteam as the channel bonding allows. Guess we will have to wait a few months to find out.

If FiOS

were in my area, I'd dump Uverse in a heart beat. For now, Uverse has the cable company formally known as Comcast, beat.

Re: I want that 100/25 Mbps tier

That's not what I meant, way to take things out of context.

I guess that also means that cell phone companies that offer 50 minute packages are false advertising as well.

It's all about perspective and opinion at this point.

Does EVERY frickin' news/commentary post about Comcast HSI speeds HAVE to begin with someone posting the traditional "but what about those caps" comment?

Because that's what they're known for.

First it was the invisible caps (years ago), when they didn't tell anybody.
Then it was the sandvine P2P throttling.
