Comments on news posted 2009-05-12 09:12:52: Back in 2007 we noted how Mediacom was taking a "back seat" approach to installing DOCSIS 3.0 technology, given the carrier wasn't facing significant competitive pressure. ..

First Market

The first market to see, the speed updates I bet will be Des Moines since that's their largest market
for speeds:
5/384 Intro
12/768 Standard
16/1 VIP
26/2 Max (To say to the Iowa phone companies you can't compete with us at these speeds)
50/5 Ultra (D3)
Is what I would like to see
as, others have stated in the past. I hope they are planning the network for peak performance to avoid the slowdowns experienced by some users on the current max plan.

Makes me wish I was still an employee...

But I doubt des moines will get it first, because it is their largest market.

They will probably start with the smaller markets first as the rollout will be easier, mush like they did with the phone service.

I hope you're right. I'm moving a few towns over (FL - Gulf Coast) and will be switching from Cox to Mediacom. Needless to say, I wasn't too thrilled about this at first, but it might end up being a blessing in disguise.

Speed levels

Do my speed's sound reasonable? that Mediacom might choose those for new service levels?
I'm not a network techie, just a general computer techie.

Re: First Market

@ Rob - Thanks for the heads up I also heard that Navarre doesn't have liquor licenses I'll be sure to let you know what my experience with the DVR is. I opted for the 20/2 service and it looks like my bill is going to be cheaper than with Cox. I'll have less HD channels, but that comes with Starz Pak and Encore.

@ IowaStudent - I'm not a network guy either, but your numbers look pretty reasonable. Here's to hoping on finding out first hand!

Re: First Market

It's great they're expanding in Illinois, but you might not of heard about the 40 or so employees who are losing their Mediacom jobs in Hendersonville, NC!

Hopefully the new company, Morris Broadband will hire most of those employees!

No hard feelings Mediacom... thanks for a great job!
