It may be sad that people vote out of fear (of wasting their vote on a hopeless candidate, allowing someone worse to get into office instead of the "lessor of two evils"), but that's the reality. Nothing will change without runoff elections so people can vote their conscience, and then vote for the lessor of two evils.

While I won't argue about the relative merits of Ds and Rs (maybe they are both more of the same), the problem really is the narrowly even split.
Certainly, presidential politics is within a few points either side of 50%. Congress as a whole is getting away from being evenly divided, but it's still too close to guarantee filibuster-proof decisions.
So, yeah, you'd think the answer is for the denizens of Washington to roll up their sleeves and just git'er done, but that's not happening.

Actually, I believe you failed to understand his viewpoint.
He knows we are technically a Republic, but calls us a "democracy" (his quotation marks) to denote that when the masses realized they could send people to Washington to take other people's money and give it to them, we ceased being a Republic, and devolved to some sort of organized mob rule....
Nero fiddles as Rome burns, the emperor has no clothes and in the end, Obama is little, if at all different than his predecessor.
At least his flubs were his own, this guy has to get his from a Teleprompter.
