Germany now has a 3 strikes policy. Our previous statement was in error. The internet is a privilege and no one "REALLY" needs it.
Now, someone please drive us to the bank to cash this nice fat MPAA / RIAA check. |

| The punishment doesn't fit the crime. that's like saying someone can't leave their house forever because they stole $3 from a church collection plate. New idea: send all music downloaders to hell for eternity, that'll teach them. |

| You missed my sarcasm. I was implying that while I disagree with this policy, it's only a matter of time til a large enough check is cut to "Change Minds". I think its STUPID AS HELL to kick people off the internet. The internet links the world together, and has many uses. Job searching, gaming, research, etc. It's a vast network that no one should be forced off of. Either way, it'll probably happen with the U.S. starting this and other countries getting on board. |

Separation of church and state is already nonexistent, so I think it should be easy to pass a law like that. That would probably be the first good thing to come of religion in our law |

1 edit | that's the same as saying. Jaywalking. 3 strikes and your not allowed to set foot on a street even at a crosswalk or lights.
Matt your starting to look like a RIAA lacky. If you have noticed, most people here have a lot of pent up anger toword anyone backing the RIAA. |

They can randomly accuse users without any proof and we all would loose internet. |

This three strikes policy they are talking about is a result of three WARNINGS. With no proof that the warnings are accurate or even addressed to the correct person and no way to fight false positives.
Is it appropriate to deny a person access to a gun because a shop owner accused them three times of robbing the shop with a gun, but the cases never went to court, the accused never got to dispute the accusations and the only person leveling accusations was the shop owner? I think not. |

And as for this stupid 3 strikes policy, it isn't needed. There are numerous civil and criminal remedies already in place for copyright holders to use when dealing with infringement in the USA, and most likely in Germany as well. -- Blagojevich / Madoff 2012! |

and you were convicted of robbing a store 3 times, with NO trial, NO solid evidence, and hardly any judicial oversight.
Then they say you are not allowed to talk to ANYBODY or go to the library. |

@bellsouth.net | Hmm
As soon as they try to make this catch on in the U.S. someone will take them to court. You can't just say the internet is a luxury anymore. Especially with people ordering food, meds., and kids doing homework off the net now. |

What happens if they kill a users internet connection and the user has VoIP? Now their 911 is dead. Sounds like a lawsuit waiting to happen once a "child" is hurt because of it.

Germany as part of the EU is no longer a soverign nation. While they may not do a 3 strikes law now, eventually they may have to if the EU passes an EU-wide law mandating it. |

Good for Germany!
For the rest of them, I don't get it,
They will never be satisfied until they have all controlled all of our human senses. All for the purpose too pay honor to those that created something before you or I were born.
Everyday, I wake up, and bam!, one more little piece of natural human connection or interaction, is being bought, sold and controlled. Faster than ever it seems too.
All the music I write, I have never charged for, I believe in voluntary contribution, for me that is enough, the passion of being able to create my music is all the real payment I need (that and my REAL job.)
Once upon a time copyrights were limited to 14 or so years. Now we have generations paying the price for those long dead.
I really despise copyright/IP laws All they do over time is enslave everyone's senses. And limit our natural ability to share our culture.
F That! |

| reply to cpsycho said by cpsycho :Matt your starting to look like a RIAA lacky. If you have noticed, most people here have a lot of pent up anger toword anyone backing the RIAA. I am not backing the RIAA in any way whatsoever. If it matters, I also supported (and still support) the 3-strikes felony law. Some people just won't learn, no matter how many times they are warned, so a stiffer punishment is needed. In this case, an ISP should have every right to disconnect a user who has been warned 3 times and should not be obligated to provide them service. Let the user go to another ISP. If the law is written so it's 3-strikes period and you're banned from all internet access, oh well.
The idea that someone would somehow be falsely accused of downloading illegal content 3 times is ludicrous. Do false positives happen? Absolutely. Do they happen 3 times to the same person? Absolutely not.
As to your other comment, I could care less if an idea or organization isn't popular here. I would never let the masses dictate my opinion on something ... perhaps you should think for yourself once in a while too. |

2 edits | reply to DarkLogix Um... Obviously, pictures of the ice shelf melting isn't proof. Then again, you're from Texas. I moved down here and all I got to say, is nothing amazes me from this state anymore. If ignorant, homophobic, racist, and lack of critical thought could be packaged into one... it'd be called Texas. I'm learning that from having moved here. Nice weather, bunch of sheltered fucking people who can't think outside the box.
Obviously, anything science is made up. Go ask that nice church that set up the Museum about the earth being 10,000 yrs old in Kentucky. Sure....
I don't know about you, but if hacking down trees en masse, spewing large amounts of shit pollutants from cars and factories into the air (I'm sure Mexico City and L.A. had smog before all that, right?), doesn't harm things... then um ya bud.... All I got to say. |
