Is my SB5101 dying?

I had three intermittent blackouts yesterday that only lasted a few minutes each time. My connection started getting screwy after that: internet was slow then I got disconnected altogether. It eventually came back on, but happened again today and was down for 2 hours.

The modem kept restarting itself during all that time. Is there a way to check if my modem is the source of the problems? And I bought this new only about a month ago.

SB4100 acting strange

My internet connection has been intermittent the past few days. I decided to check the log, and I'm getting frequent "HFC: LOST TRC SYNC- trying to recover" msgs. Also, my cm apparently rebooted this afternoon around 5pm. I've posted an excerpt of the log below. I also posted my firmware version below. My svc provider is Knology. Is my firmware very outdated and could that be the problem? If Knology isn't updating my f/w, should I consider getting a new modem? Thanks.

SB5101N vs SB5101U

Hi,
I've just received some SB5101N modems, they don't connect on my cable plan. I'm using S-CDMA only modulation (pure DOCSIS 2.0 mode). The firmware that came with the modem is SB5101NU-2.1.1.0-GA-01-83-NOSH, this seem pretty old to me.

All my modem are SB5101, never had problem to initially connect and update firmware. My dealer told me the N version is replacing the SB5101. A quick search and I found there is a SB5101U model that in fact is the exact model replacing the original SB5101 (include a USB port). I don't want to reconfigure my CMTS with mixmode modulations just to update these N modems.

Do you know which firmware is shipping with the U version? Can it be use with pure DOCSIS 2.0 modulations?

Thanks,
clefrancois

AT&T just replaced my old Westell with Motorola 2210.
Behind this I have a WRT54G. Problem is when I set the IP Passthrough to access my static IP from the internet I lose the ability to see the computers on my private network.
Is there a way to fix this?
Thanks!!! :)

Having trouble setting my NAT type to "open" on xbox live

i have a Motorola SBG900 modem/router
here is what i have tried so far:
i have forwarded the ports 88 2074 and 3074, made a manual ip address on the network settings on the 360 console.

i retested xboxlive connection and it still failed, it said it may be filtering out the mac address

i found somthin on my router about a mac address bypassing the firewall and i entered in the 360 mac address and enabled yes allow access or somthin like that. still failed xbl test.

what else should i try?

Values for a SB6120?

I was sort of forced into picking up a new SB6120 as our old SB5101 had a horrific accident involving something large crushing it during the moving of some equipment. The SB6120 was the only thing I could find at 2 local retailers so I took a chance.

It took Comcast about 2 hours to get it up and running, which didn't surprise me based on what I was reading here on my phone at the time. When it finally started working at all the tech was so eager to get me off the phone they almost couldn't hang up fast enough before I had a chance to ask any questions.

I was so used to my old SB5101 that I'm just curious how these numbers look to someone who knows what they should look like. My receieve light is blue, indicating that apparently bonding is on here, which seems odd to me as I'm not in a market where FIOS exists and we normally don't get the best of anything.

All speed tests confirm I'm no worse off than before, though my uploads may be a touch quicker.

So on to the current values.....and what do the experts think?
