I'm in Columbia, MO -

I was just wondering if anyone else was having problems tuning HBO HD? All the other HBO channel's work, except the HD one. All my other HD channels work as well.

The problem is on both my TiVo, and Mediacom Box... so I don't think it's the receiver.

[IA] Slowdown In Ankeny

For about the past two weeks it seems like my download speed has been cut in half. I am currently getting speeds of 4mb down. I was getting consistently close to 8mb down for about the past six months.

I have not changed anything inside of my house. I have the RCA DCM425 cable modem with a Linkysys router hooked up to it. The PC that I am currently running is Vista home premium.

Cable modem levels are below. I just want to throw in a side note that the return power path is high, but it has always been high. It consistently sits in the 57 level.

Line Quality Test. http://www.dslreports.com/linequality/nil/2436081

Here are also some trace routs. Let me know what other information anybody would like to see.

As always any help would be greatly appreciated.

[IA] VIP Pak questions.

So today we had mediacom's phone service installed, and apparently this qualifies us for the VIP Pak perks, which include a speed bump to 10mb (from 8mb), and a "web-boost" feature.

Now, at the moment, I've not seen an increase in speed over what we had previously, downloads / uploads are identical to our 8mb / 512k service. I've seen some people here post Speedtest results showing 20mb+ due to the web-boost, which would be interesting to have happen here too. ;p

Question. Do we have to do anything, that is, call Mediacomm up and say "Hey! We're a VIP customer, hook us up with the 10mb service and web-boost", or should it already be active?

If its already active, should I expect some delay before seeing the 10mb/1mb speeds? If I don't see such speeds, should I call Mediacomm up?

Thanks!

[MS] MediaCom Infrustructure

Since Katrina, Mediacom has been busting their butts trying to repair everything. However, some knucklehead decided not to replace the damage cables but to just repair them to save money. Now they are paying the price because of the saltwater contamination. They are losing customers because of this. My workplace uses MediaCom and we are constantly losing signal. I receive a call from "Enterprise Service Manager" that asked if we are willing to be feed by fiber. WHAT? I don't know where this is going but I will kept you posted....

Mediacom Phone service, that is.

Going to port my current number over, and I have a scheduled install date of October 3rd. I'm hoping it doesn't do something crappy to my Internet connection performance, which has been absolutely stellar for the past year or better!

Got my fingers crossed... ;)

[IL] Moline - Daily dropouts

I've had periods of time (anywhere from minutes to hours) over the past few weeks where the cable modem lights (Surfboard) show everything's online, but my router gets no DHCP lease from the cable modem. I've bypassed the router, as well as using a spare one, and it's definitely not the router.

The only thing I don't have to swap out is a different cable modem (and yes, I've powered it off, etc.)

Signal levels are:
Frequency 117000000 Hz Locked
Signal to Noise Ratio 38 dB
Power Level -3 dB

Upstream Value
Channel ID 1
Frequency 25008000 Hz Ranged
Power Level 57 dBmV

I've read upstream power levels >55dBmV might indicate a less-than-perfect signal. What do you guys think?
