Another Fire Offical Suspected of setting Fires

Looks like we might have another fireman setting fires...The last big case was against a Pasadena Arson investigator after he was found to have set over 50 residential, business and brush fires all along the foothill communities.

A U.S. Forest Service arson investigator is being considered as a
possible "firefighter arsonist" for dozens of suspicious blazes in
Riverside, San Bernardino and Los Angeles counties, it was reported
Saturday.

Court records show that a rash of arsons that hit the mountains north
of Santa Clarita ended when a federal arson investigator was
transferred out of the area.

Volunteers Needed to Help Sand Bag Tea Fire Burn Areas

With rain in the forecast this coming week, residents and officials are concerned with possible flooding in the Tea fire area and the homes below it. Officials held a press conference asking for the public's help this weekend as they try and prevent erosion on Mountain Drive and other surrounding areas. They are calling for volunteers to meet at coldsprings school at 8am tomorrow with boots and shovels. The county has dropped off a pile of sand at Coyote and Mountain Drive. Cold springs School is located at the corner of Sycamore Canyon and Cold Springs road. Volunteers need to be 18 and older.

Another Metrolink collision-Metro vs freight train-Rialto

Just shown on ch 9 news at 2:00 PM. Metro collided side to side with a Burlington Northern at crossing track. Estimated 5 injuries.

edit, more info: the freighter with about 80 cars was entering the side track, there were about 10 cars not yet on the side track when the Metro approaching on the main track from the opposite direction got too close and side-swiped the last 10 freight cars. No derailment. Witnesses report Metro appeared to be approaching at unusually high speed, may have run a red light. Five non-critical passenger injuries. Just a fender bender, as train wrecks go. Metro traffic tied up while they try to move the trains off the main track.

This train stuff is starting to sound like a broken record.

Heavy Mt Snow. Rain Possible for Valleys Tues. Eve thru Sat

...Colder and wetter weather expected for the middle of next week and the thanksgiving holiday weekend... A significant change in the weather pattern will occur Tuesday and continue through the thanksgiving holiday weekend.

Although there remains some uncertainty in the specific details...It is looking increasingly likely that two separate storm systems will impact the area during this time frame.

The first of these systems looks to approach the coast of California by Tuesday afternoon and move across our area Tuesday night into Wednesday afternoon. This system has the potential to bring widespread precipitation to the Mojave desert and southern great basin...With snow showers across the higher elevations. Snow levels are expected to lower to around 6000 feet by Wednesday afternoon and may be lower locally in heavier bursts of precipitation. Gusty wind are also possible mainly ahead of this system on Tuesday afternoon into Tuesday night.

A second and even colder storm system may impact the area as early as thanksgiving afternoon...But more likely on Friday afternoon into Saturday. This system will be even colder...And thus snow levels will be even lower...Dropping to between 5000 and 5500 feet by Friday night into Saturday afternoon.

Once again...Snow levels may lower locally in heavier bursts of precipitation. In the lower elevations rain showers are expected. Due to the clouds...Showers and northerly flow...Below normal temperatures are expected from thanksgiving day through the remainder of the holiday weekend.
