[OT] Change A Letter Game

Try this :)

Make a completely new word by changing ONE letter in the previous word

Example:

STARS can become START by changing the S to a T

You can muddle up the letters as much as you like provided you only CHANGE ONE letter

Your "starter" word is:

CURES

[OT] They Aren't All Bad!!

I have to share this...

I went to the store this morning and as I was pulling into a parking spot I noticed an elderly woman struggling with her groceries. Before I could get parked her bag ripped and emptied all over the place and I ran over one of her cans with my truck.

There was a boy there, might have been 10 or 11 years old. Almost before the last can hit the ground he was there helping her pick up her stuff. He was crawling under all the cars to find everything. Well I asked her if she was alright and she assured me she was (her face told another story) so I took the can I had ran over inside and got it replaced. The people inside were nice and didn't charge me for it and I got a couple bags and doubled bagged them so they would be stronger.

I went back outside and the boy had gathered up everything and I gave him the bags and (get this) He asks me how much for the bags. Well I was flabbergasted!! I told him the bags were free and he could use them to help his grandma.

What came out of his mouth next just floored me. He told me she wasn't his grandma. I told him it was nice of him to help her out. Know what he said? He said, "What was I supposed to do? She needs me".

Kids get a bad rap nowadays. This is proof they aren't all bad!!

Have you seen any random acts of kindness lately? If so, please share your uplifting stories.

End of chemo feedback

That silly doctor - - she had me get a CT scan of my whole abdomen and my chest only to tell me that all the furry critters I was growing have disappeared.

Heck, I couldda told her that if you mix:

chemical agents,
biologic agents,
a couple of weird prescriptions some of which are placed in unmentionable body cavities
and a MAJOR dose of mojo and prayers from people who don't judge but accept you because you share a hatred for cancer and other nasties

well....the nasties don't stand a chance!!!!

Cured? Nope. I've been told that a stage 4 adeno carcinoma doesn't get cured....it either eats you up or goes into remission. It's major habit is to spread to the lungs and brain....in my case, they must have had the map upside down.

In remission? Nope. Can't declare that for 5 or 6 months after the chemo stops. Then they decide which RE to use RE-MISSION or RE-TRY.

Symptom free? Nope. The neuropothy (numbness and tingling in fingers and the bottoms of the feets) lingers. Heck, I haven't had this much tingle in my body since my first date with...uh, never mind...young people and nice ladies visit here.

Lose my hair? Nope/Yep/I'm not sure. The drugs in my first five cycles made my hair very thin but were not supposed to make it just fall out. The drug they substituted in my last cycle has a reputation for making hair fall out. They tell me it usually happens within 18 days of the treatment. Well, I'm well beyond 18 days from my first round and nearing 18 days from the last one. Hair is pretty thin, but it's summer and I like the gray hair contrasted to red scalp. :uhh:

So, where's all this long-winded gibberish going? No place.

I just wanted to say thank you.

And, I want to apologize again to folks who haven't experienced my good luck with treatment or my results (so far). Hopefully the contrast I offer is that our work is useful and some day, all of them will be more like me.

Heck, some day we might just whip this crap and have to focus on the second greatest scourge known to mankind..... national politics. :D
