Question for Metrocast techs - very old modem

I have an old Motorola modem that I got many moons ago from @Home the Connecticut provider that Metrocast bought. Two years ago, one of the Metrocast techs told me I could bring it in to Waterford and get a more up-to-date model free. Is that still true ?

Problems in Maryland Again?

Would like to know what's going here in the Greenbrier area of Lexington Park? There has been peak problems for the past two months and now I've noticed a serious change in my line monitoring results. I have the gamers package 10/1

The neighborhood had issues Sat. afternoon from around 3-9 PM. There was no service during those times. I called Tech Support about it and they did not know what was going on.

Now it looks something has changed since early monday morning. Ping times have doubled and speeds are very slow again?

Tenpin? any ideas what is going on?

Metrocast DVR Hard-Drive Space...

Just recently upgraded our television so my wife can watch football in Hi Def.

Never really had disk space issues on our Motorola DVR before, but now that we've started recording HD programming it's filling up in less than a week. My wife will record all the foot-ball games on Sundays, and watch them throughout the week, which isn't leaving any room for the normal programming I record throughout the week, and watch on Saturdays.

I called customer service and asked if there was any way to upgrade to a bigger hard-drive in my DVR, they said no. So I'm stumped. The whole point of this thing is so that we can record TV, and watch it later, but we're now at the point where we're missing shows.

Has anyone had any luck getting Metrocast to upgrade their hard-drive space, or adding an external drive to these Motorola DVRs or anything I'm not thinking of? Hard drive space is sooo cheap these days, seems ridiculous to not be able to increase it.

Thanks in advance.

Traceroute

Does MetroCast use RFC 1918 IP addresses on hardware that is a part of their local network? The reason I ask is I was running a traceroute this morning and the second hop listed was a 10.xxx.xx.xx IP. I wasn't sure if that IP had come from my cell phone or not.

Berwick PA - November 2009

Speeds are subpar here in PA. 10/1 gamer package

Coincidently, 2 years in a row, around the same time period speeds in the Berwick area took a dump. I hope this is a one time fluke.

Anyone else from Berwick, Glen Lyon or Dallas PA reading this? Post the speeds!

Metrocast of Mississippi

It appears from trolling your forums that metrocast is a bit on the awful side of stable decent internet connection. I play video games, I'm an uber nerd of WoW proportions and pwns nubs on halo 3. Now the peak times seem to be anything between 8 pm cst and 1 am cst here in starkvegas. South of us, in philly, there are similar problems that cause in game latency of 1900ms+ and in halo at least a 3 second delay between pulling the trigger and seeing your grenade explode.

I'll wait a few more days before completely scrapping my service with them, but the previous post about there being some "update" around new years is correct. Starting about the first of feburary my nerd buddies and I have found playing on metrocast internet impossible and we all live miles apart.

The best I've got from tech support thus far is "cycle power" "plug directly into the modem" and the normal quick fixes they can provide over the phone. Hell I even thought my desktop was the problem so I bought another computer to try and see if this would fix the lag. It didn't.

If there are any suggestions on how to fix this awful awful internet please tell me, otherwise my best bet is moving the "super ultra mega" ATT dsl offered here. I envy you people with choices of ISPs, sigh.

Any chance of getting ESPN 360

no signal message

I was attempting to record the Nascar Nationwide Series race today on my Panasonic DMR-ES40V - it was unwatchable as the video and audio was breaking up and a small black screen kept popping up on the left that said "no signal". I have just moved from New London to Waterford and have expanded basic service. (Prior to moving I had Dish Network with a epg digital box) I never had this problem with the Dish service. I am disabled and on a limited budget - when I went to Myrock Avenue to see if I could rent a box I was told I would have to give them $200.00 which they will keep indefinitely in order to get a box.

I connected the dvd/vcr combo unit to another person's tv who had a Metrocast box and did not have the problem (I believe my signal issues are related to not having a digital converter box -) since I am paying for the service and not getting what I should I don't think it is unreasonable for Metrocast to provide the digital box without the exorbitant $200.00 fee, $7.00 rental a month is payment enough.

If someone from Metrocast is reading this and can assist I would appreciate it.
