| Hosting services at DPN?! NOT! Have you ever heard of a hosting company that do not allow software distributions?! I am talking about distributing legit softwares not wares or the alike. Well, DPN (DataPacket.Net) is the company!
To my surprise, after they have cleared my payment for a full year (it's just passed 30 days - let me tell you, I truly reget paying them for a full year. I should have selected the monthly option then I would just be done with them and go with someone else) they removed all files with *.zip, *.exe on their servers without any notifications. Of course, my clients couldn't download our setup files. So, I opened a support ticket. Guess what reply I got back from their support, "We do not allow software distribution from our servers." Isn't this crazy or what?
Well, I have sent them two more support requests. It's probably going to take a week to get a reply back, if that. This certainly has taught me a *BIG* lesson, "DO NOT USE DPN".
I have found a few hosts who charge $5/mo more but would not hinder any legit businesses to do business on the web. I will see about getting a refund from DPN (probably should not hold my breath) and report them to the Better Business Bureau, and attempt to warn all from this potential trap.
Anyway, for anyone of you out there that are looking for hosting, do consider hard before signing up with DPN. If you do plan to allow your users to download files, DPN is not the place for your hosting.

| Re: Hosting services at DPN?! NOT! Whom ever told you this was wrong or you misunderstood what they were saying. DPN does allow distribution of legal files. Secondly it is perfectly acceptable for any host to not allow something. [text was edited by author 2002-03-27 23:07:32] | |

@39.charter-st
| I put all my customers on DPN in January. I attempted to contact DPN to cancel 3 weeks later (PRIOR TO MY ONE MONTH) surprisingly it was to late and i couldn't get my money back.
So now im losing my clients faith in web hosting and other computer consulting, i am currently moving over clients to another server, which i might add is great. But for the money i spent on DPN i have already lost 10 times that in what i have made from the clients i have lost.
DPN is in my mind the worst HOSTING SERVICE AROUND.
1, Tech Support is very bad. 2, the sites go down atleast once a week, and at least for a whole day once a month. 3, they keep changing there prices, and hosting packages because they arnt settled in yet. 4, it takes atleast a day for anyone to get back with you on a problem. 5, they take down sites for SO CALL MANTAINCE in the day time and in the middle of the week.
I only have a handlefull of web sites left to transfer over but i cant wait till i get rid of DPN all together.
DPN also goes Under Datapacket.net and Duronnet. so watch out.

| Datapacket.net Sucks DPN (datapacket.net) is the most unprofessional hosting company Ive had the dishonor of dealing with. There tech-support is the worst and rude, after emailing them several times because I couldnt login after some brain trust changed my administration login I get no response.
The server is down repeatedly and when up is often slow, very slow! They talk about being reliable, having all these redundant high-speed connections, etc. and other nonsense to ensure that your site is up and running 24 hours a day. DONT BELIEVE IT!!! They are liars! But if you care to waste your time and money and give it to bunch of tricksters, then DPN (datapacket.net) is a good choice.

@attbi.co
| Re: Datapacket.net Sucks I think this is a mute point. My domains on DPN have been down since 10 Sept. Initially, DPN had a note on their web site that they were shut down by law enforcement and would be back up in 48-72 hours. Its been almost a week.
I'm moving my domains to another hosting provider, and this time doing my homework. I'm shocked at how many bad reviews I found in searching on DataPacket.net and its previous name, BRInet.

| DPN Ignores the Florida BBB After over 14 days of not receiving an acknowledgement of my support request I began e-mailing every day (the online chat system and phones are never answered). DPN promptly shut my site down for "spamming" them. After repeatedly asking for a refund with no response I contacted the Florida BBB for assistance.
DPN ignored the BBB's requests for contact. I have no choice but to move on to contacting the Orange County Consumer Fraud board and then the State's AG.
It's only $59.00....but it's the principle!

| an instructive story
Here is my story with datapack.net About 3 weeks ago my site suddenly went down. The online operator informed me that they changed their network and directed me to sales@datapacket.net. I sent a mail asking to make the site online. When I saw that they wouldn't answer I contacted again the operator. This time he directed me to the big boss (Brian Bennett) bbennett@datapacket.net. I sent a mail again to both of these addresses and also dropped a ticket for the support team. Mr. Bennett seemed to be too busy spending our money since he was not going to do anything to solve the problem. I couldn't do anything only to invade them with mails. I think I sent at least 100 mails and dropped some a dozen of tickets when after 10 days Mr. Bennett answered me, asking the payment transaction ID. In that very day I sent it to him, and to everybody who has an email address ending with @datapacket.net. Since then I am sending to them 3-5 mails/day with the details they asked to make my site back. My site is still offline, nobody is working there (the online operator is also not working for more than a week). I have also dropped the following tickets: KHT-46557, JAM-18208, SRI-75962, LLM-22865, XBM-38898, XSZ-85503, NRV-38486. In the first days I was very angry, I was afraid that I would loose my clients. Now I lost them all and so I lost some money too. If you need a hosting server, avoid Datapacket.net, it is a thief gang. They will steal your money and won't do the service you paid them.

| Datapacket server down for over 5 days they did not reply to any emails. The operators claim to give them messages though the same email accounts. The day the servers came back up I get a reminder to pay ? Pay for what? I replied to their request with concerns about services and they replied by shutting me down. Thankfully after day 2 of no service I transfered everything away.
