[cable] zoom cable modem seems to be junk.

I got this modem in august of this year. The internet quits working occasionaly. I thought it was the router at first, until i power cycled that and got nothing. I made sure the mac address was still cloned. Then I power cycled the modem and then the router again, and then everything is working again. The lights were all solid green on the modem, so it wasnt comcasts fault this time.

My guess is it would be pointless to bother with zoom support with the warranty. What do you guys think?

FADJ issues

I am looking into possible issues when doing RF pings to terayon TJ 715 modems.
When i do RF pings the FADJ should be 500 or below but am seeing a lot of higher stats. Low of 560 high of 1400.
This affects the customers causing slow browsing, intermittent connection.
I have bench tested several new Terayon's and seeing the same issue with new (refurb modems).
Is there some kind of setting i would need to change on the CMTS, or am i just having a failure rate on Terayon modems in the high 80% range?

[general] Modem/Router Advice

I am on a cable modem Motorola SB5101 that was supplied by our cable provider. Seems to work fine. I would like to buy my wife a netbook and allow her to connect wirelessly to the internet. What is the best and most cost effective way for me to do this? The netbook would be used primarily to surf and email.
