Service Electric Cablevision - Breaking News

My buddy just moved and transfered his service with SECV in Birdsboro, PA.

Now he already had his Motorola 6412 Phase 3 DVR with him, but while the guy was there installing in his new townhouse he upgraded his bedroom to a HD box, which happens to be a PACE box. So far he loves the Pace box.

The Cable guy said by the end of May this year, they plan to be all digital and launch 40 new high definition channels! That's right, 40 HD channels on top of the 30 they already have! If this cable guy is right (hopefully he is, that will put Service Electric up to 70 HD channels! Eat that Comcrap! Never underestimate the little cable operators!

You know the other thing that makes me want to believe the tech was that an article in our local Reading Eagle newspaper stated that Service Electric will be migrating to an ALL DIGITAL service, where every TV will require a set top box. You know how much bandwidth this frees??? Well they have about 77 Analog channels now, and they are a 750 MHz network pushing stuff past that to Ch 120. Talk about the little operator that could!

Blue Ridge Cable - PA

I had a rant on here about 2 months ago about how slow Blue Ridge was in adding HD channels to their lineup. Since that time they have added:

VS./Golf HD
The Weather Channel HD (no local on the 8's in HD yet. It's the national feed)
Sportsnet NY HD
Yes Network HD
CNN HD
Nat Geo HD
MHD(which really isn't worth anyones time)

So 7 HD channels in 2 months isn't bad at all for a total of 27 and they say many more to come.

Brighthouse becomes Dimhouse they went to Mystro

They did it.... they went with Mystro. It has got to be the worst software! Passport was more stable and easier to use. Functionality that was built into show lists now has to be done by selecting the show and then you can make changes after 2 more menus. It is absolutely horrific. Who hates their customers so much that they would go to this JUNK!???
In 2 days my box rebooted 4 times and lost recording 2 shows. Also it is slow; with passport, not one reboot in 2 years! So slow I feel like I went from a P4 computer to a pentium II.
You can't get all the info on a show either. You get two lines and "oh... sorry that is all we decided to let this junk software display..."
I called customer service and the dimwit on the phone told me FCC said they had to go to the software... Really? FCC makes your business and support decisions??? Don't lie to me.

Help to decide new TV company

Hello,

I am moving soon and I have a wide variety of TV choices:

- DIRECT TV
- DISH NETWORK
- CABLEVISION (currently using)
- FIOS
- COMCAST

Now I have the cablevision triple play. I work from home and I need a fast and reliable internet. Direct TV and DISH will not give me these services, but how about TV quality? I also need to have the Brazilian channels, which DISH, DIRECT TV and COMCAST offer, however DISH and DIRECT TV require a second dish to get these channels.

Talking about prices, picture quality and reliability what would you suggest? I don't want to keep Cablevision anymore, I simple dislike their cable lineup and prices. I also have requested to put the brazilian channels on their line up for over 2 years and I always get a default answer.

I am thinking about Comcast which can offer all I want without having dishes around, but the price is $179/mo for all services with all the packages. I wouldn't mind putting one dish for only the international programming, but that would require another box just for the international channels.

Let's see some posts :D

Thanks a lot!

CableOne Caps, filed franchise complaint with City of Boise

This is my first post in these forums, but I have been using them to research the issue of the speed caps that CableOne has implemented. I was put off by the fact that I was never informed of these caps, and that when I contacted CableOne about it, they just told me that everyone does it and at least we advertise our limits.

So. . .that being said I decided to file a complaint with the City of Boise (where I live) regarding CableOne's intrusive caps, and specifically the fact that they do a very poor job of making the limit information available to new customers, especially if you don't ask about it.

I will be interested to see what kind of response I get from CableOne, and I will post any updates as they come in. I expect that I will be switching to Qwest DSL, but this is CableOne's only opportunity to redeem themselves.
