•Go to "Start+Programs+Accessories+System Tools+Backup"
•Press the Backup Wizard Button, when the Backup Wizard comes up press next then select "Backup Selected files, drives and Network Data."
•Expand "My Computer" select C:\ and System State, press next.
•Give the backup job a name like "C and System State", select what drive to save it to and press next when finished.
•When you are at the "Completing The Backup Wizard" screen press the "Advanced" button and run the options making sure it is set to Normal and Verify.
•Once you have finished let it backup what you have selected.....you may want to go get some coffee or get something to eat as it will take a while. To backup more partitions or drives do the same thing as the above except don't backup the System State. Always make C:\ and System State first and then make the other backups after that.

Go to "Start+Programs+Accessories+System Tools+Backup"
Press the "Backup Wizard" button; once the wizard starts press next and then select "Only backup the System State Data". Give it a name like "System State" and select where to store it...then press next and then finish.

Recently, a new form of internet spam has emerged and it can affect users of Windows 2000 and XP. Advertisements can be sent using the Messenger Service built into NT (not to be confused with Windows/MSN Messenger that you chat with).
The easiest way to prevent the windows is to disable the service. To disable it, open the Control Panel, go to the Administrative Tools folder, and then the Services applet. Scroll down to the Messenger service and double click it. Change the setting to Disabled. Bear in mind that this shuts of all activity for that service. If you do not use it to Message on your network, then you have nothing to worry about.

A freeware utility is available for resetting your Administrator password in the event you suddenly can't remember it. Information and the tool can be found by visiting this link - Offline NT Password and Registry Editor.
Alternatively, you can download Ophcrack which can be used to identify all user passwords on an NT based machine.

Sometimes, thumbnails will lose their labels in Explorer. To restore the labels, open the problem folder and change the view to something else, say icons. Now change back to thumbnails while holding down the shift key. This should bring back the labels. Similarly, labels can be hidden by changing the view and restoring thumbnails while holding the shift key. Windows XP uses the shift key in this case to toggle between labeled and unlabeled thumbnails.
