The English Usage FAQ Home Page is not only a good reference source, it's also a pleasant place to while away some time.

A second place to burn some spare time is the Fun With Words site.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art has a lot of stuff online, as does The National Gallery of Art. They each have a special section for kids. It may take lots of clicking to get to some of stuff on each of them.

The Louvre is online.

If you are interested in Modern Art: The Museum of Modern Art.

Finally, there is a search engine dedicated just to art: The Artcyclopedia.
