***Warning! Please heed caution when making changes to your registry. If it's your first time editing the registry, please make a copy of your current registry before proceeding.***
1. Go to your registry [Start->Run-> type in regedit] and find winsock2 at:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Winsock2
2. Rename the file to something like winsock2old.
3. Then goto: control panel -> add/remove programs -> Windows Setup
4. Unclick COMMUNICATIONS, then click apply
5. Click COMMUNICATIONS, then click apply, this should reinstall a working copy of winsock2.
6. Reboot, then you should be back up and running.
