Yes, the latest available version of DC++ works just fine on Windows Vista and newer, including Windows 8.
For versions older than 0.760, just make sure to install it with Administrator rights when you see the UAC
prompt. It is recommended that you install these older versions outside
the Program Files/Program Files(x86) folder to avoid problems. If you still want to install them to Program Files, make sure you run DC++ with administrator rights (right click on the DC++ shortcut and select Run as administrator
) or disable UAC completly (not recommended).Warning
: be prepared that running an older version of DC++ poses several security risks as well as stability problems. The older the DC++ version you run the more features are missing or not working as it should (UPnP for example). Similarly, DC++ versions released before
the operating system you'd like to run them on can behave unexpectedly even to the extreme (e.g. it may won't start at all).
