I started with Usnetway which was bought out by NuNet. At first I did not notice anything different, then they started to sensor email, just basically blocking whatever THEY felt was spam.
A couple of friends opted to pay a year in advance, well they billed them before the next year started, stating that was their policy. Trying to get a refund from Nunet or get in touch with their billing department other then email is next to impossible. Needless to say it took my friends (3) months to get it straightened out between the credit card company and NuNet. I personnally know that they charged my card for a full year service when they did not even have my new credit card expiration dates. My credit card company promply removed it from my bill and issued me a new card.
NuNet also tracks websites and what your doing on the net, or at least they did. I was witness to a speaker phone call at a friends where they told him where he surfed to the last several days. I'm sure they probably are not the only ones doing this, but what are we paying for someone to watch our moves. We have Big Brother for that !!!

NuNet used to be the best DSL provider in town. I was a business DSL customer, one of thier first (or close to it), I think.
COVAD put the screws the screws to them and Verizon's unfair practice of soliciting new telephone customers for DSL when they moved in-to/out-of NuNet's markets while they setting up new phone service caused some serious damage.
I thank NuNet for the service in the past and hope they do well.
If anyone reading this is looking for dialup service, I wouldn't stop looking at NuNet and sign-up there. »www.nni.com/
Support small ISPs...their tech support is better.

Back in September I ordered the 608/128 service through NuNet and was a happy customer with everything up and running in about 30 days or so. All was fine with the connection except for once where I had no access for about 24 hours due to some new software/hardware upgrade at Covad. But the problems started when I wanted to move. Although the Tech support is great the Customer Service there is just about worthless. It takes sending emails sometimes 4 times to get answers about anything and then they can't even inform you of what is going on until it is too late.
Case in point: In January I had to write 4 emails to get a reply when I wanted to let them know I was going to be in need of transferring my DSL to another address once I moved. Instead of informing me that it would be impossible at the moment due to the negotiations with Covad they gave me the new contract low-down and requested specific information. I think, great, if I time my move right I can probably have DSL set up within a very short time. So I get my new place and phone about a week later and then get told (after a week involving writing 3 emails and finally a phone call get a reply back) it would not be possible to do until probably the end of Feb... so I wait... March 6 its still the same... can't do it... End of march... still the same, can't do it... start of April... still.... Aggravated, and upset that I am paying $59 for nothing and am entitled to no compensation due to the contract, I went ahead and dug deep in my pocket and got set up with another ISP.
I have to shake my head at NuNet. The still have advertisements for DSL but no disclaimer that its not currently available. If your waiting to get DSL with NuNet... you could be there for a while and might want to look for another ISP that CAN provide it for you.

I initially signed up with Bell Atlantic (as they were then known), but I will try confine myself to a review NuNet and minimize ranting about BA, now Verizon. That said, I will say for contrast that Verizon began with an installation that didn't work - though once someone actually looked at the problem, it was fixed while I was on the phone (a week after the scheduled date). I had problems accessing a net-banking site with Verizon which were never (NEVER!) resolved. I did learn alot about getting PPPOE to work with Linux along the way (Roaring Penguin ROCKS!). NuNet gives me a static IP.
I can't say too much about NuNet because it just works. I forget exactly how long it took to get the service, but it happend on schedule and even though, as I recall, the Covad tech got some bad info from Verizon (never mind) everything was resolved in a timely manner.
The only time I've called NuNet with a problem was when I was trying to get dial-up access from an away from home location and I forgot that I had to preface my username with NNI/. I've also dealt with NuNet at work in the past for an ISDN connection. In more than a year there, we had one problem that cropped up with mail, but the I didn't get a run-around from Tech support like some ILECs I could mention, and the problem did get resolved that day.
I don't recall service being down when I wanted to use it. DSL Reports speed test report speeds in the ball park (I don't really expect 1.5MB, and I always seem to get above 1.2 MB down and high 300kb's up). The $75 price for 1.5/384 service is good for ADSLs. Once I have a cable modem option, I may try it just for the price difference, but for now I'm quite happy with NuNet.

"Excellent uptime, meets or exceeds purchased bandwidth" "Unable to order additional service due to contract negotiations between NNI/Covad" "Would not consider another service at this time"

The initial installation performed in under two hours. Installing technician provided all required information, IP address, default gateway, and dns server addresses.
The service almost always meets or exceeds the purchased bandwidth, and it should be noted that this is with a known static (noise) problem existing on the analog portion of the phone line.
I run Night Vision monitoring software to track uptime of my various web sites, and based on the results (E.I. all sites unreachable at the same time), it appears that my service has been interrupted only 4 times in a year.
For all practical purposes, the service has been flawless.
