From the 2 years i have had it they gave us semi good service just very expensive. It is a big jump from dial up but not the best solution for interent. for the cost it is better to go with comcast. I have 256kbps and im paying 31 dollars for that fast of net but going with comcast ill be paying 33 per month and ill be getting either 6mbs or 8mbs. I dont know which yet. If u want semi fast net and u have money to burn go with qwest but if u want great fast net go with comcast.

I get 2MB down, I pay for 7MB down. They have sent a repair man over to my location 6 times, no help from them. One time they found nothing then I found out the box up the street was effected by snow, then another time they found nothing, 1 month goes by, another tech finds a hot switch. Now more problems, reload every page 10 times, nothing 40% of the time. This is just plain sad, and none of them can ever fix it, they never admit to squat but then always seem to try to repair it.

Bottom line they know it is broken, but wont admit it exactly, call them up and ask for a refund, I did and they gave me like 2 months. Never pay for anything when you do not get what ya pay for.

Resolution --> use a cable modem and drop Qwest!

I switched from Cox because of all the bundling and the fact I did not want my telephone service via potentially unreliable cable service. I have had solid and reliable service, technical support has been fast and easy with any questions and the service at Qwest is vastly improved over what existed five years ago.

I don't have anything bad to say about this, and I have been using it for about ten months now.

I have had qwest.net dsl for a year and a half. I came over from comcast as they

raised my rates and punished me for ditching there cable T.V. Anyway I wasn't to sure about going to qwest after reading the reviews on this site. I tryed them out anyway. First with the 256 since it was only $25 dollers or so. I had a friend say to stick with qwest.net not msn. I have since upgraded to the 1.5meg and it works like a champ. My dsl has never gone down. At all! I use a cisco 678 that my neighbor sold me. I am on a remote terminal as I am too far away from the CO. I can't complain about the install as I did the self-install thing. I have a dsl filter in the box outside my house that puts the dsl on a seperate line then my phones. The tech on the phone calls this a homerun. Once I did that things ran perfect. My line quality went from 17db to 40db. My speeds have stayed constantly 1.3mb down and 860kb up. yes there is interleaving but I still play ut2004 without any problem.

I was so willing to ditch qwest at the first little problem I had but it never came. I am surprised that I am writing a postive review for this company but you got to give them credit when they deliver. As far as tech support I cant really comment as I only talked to them the one time when upgrading. It was a good experience as he told me about the homerun. They also changed my phone package saving me money. I am always happy to save money. I am dynamic IP as all I do is play games and surf the internet. no need for static yet. now if they could only offer tv.

UPDATE: Here it is Nov of 05 and I have qwest dsl. I did switch to comcast 4meg service because they offered it for $19.99 for three months. It was faster of course but I got bursty speed and packet loss. Then when the price went up to $60 I decided to go back to qwest. I have had it for about 4 or 5 months. No problems up and steady. 1.5meg for 25 bucks no packet loss consistent speeds and of course interleave but thats ok not much of a gamer anymore. I think it took 5 days from order until install. I have a 678 but they sent me the actiontech modem and I tried it and no problems so far. I like the wireless. I know its not as good as the other wireless routers you can buy but it works for me. Just dynamic ppoa. If you just surf the net and read email why would you pay 60 bucks amonth when you can pay $25. Just my thought.

Sorry I forgot to add that I am using msn as the isp. I know a lot of people dont like the software but I do. My kids love msn kids and I use the Encarta online for my night school. And hey not much of a fan for mcafee but you get it for free for a year so what the heck.

Update Dec 30 2007. Still rock solid! I did upgrade to the 2wire modem so I could add some computers. both wired and wireless. I just upgraded to the 7mb speed no problems. I had to agree to two more years but figured why not if they promise me $29.99 a month price for life. Thats a good deal. I think

We switched from Direcway's 2 way satellite broadband at $79/mo to Qwest's dsl at $27/mo. They sent the modem and hook up directions which I used to good end with little difficultly. Qwest advertised service at 1.5 mb dn/128k up. Best dwn we've had was 182k. I get disconnected continuously. Calling Qwest's tech support is an adventure in the dangers and pitfalls of outsourcing call center work to third world countries with minimal esl skills. 16 calls, 4 supervisors, and only one with comprehensible English, endless repetition as techs stumble through knowledge trees while showing scant familiarity with even the most basic computer operations and hardware. Performance is worse than ever. A new call to tech support gets me little English, less compassion, no help, and back to step one in the now thoroughly memorized tech tree. I'm giving up and upgrading to the cans and strings.

I have, currently, 1500/896 DSL Delux with Internet Basic on a stand alone DSL connection.

I previously had this same service with a POTS line, but recently dropped the line for VoIP services.

MY experience with this DSL service, one istalled and set-up, has been stellar.

Getting it set-up and billed correctly was a trying experience.

The connection is never dropped and very consistent. I am disappointed with the speeds provided in my area, but I refuse to pay $60 a month for comcast. Overall a great ISP, that would be SOOOOO much better if they would get rid of the dang interleave on the lines which adds 32ms to my pings.

To illustrate just how frustrating Qwest support is - this is the actual transcript of the online "help" I just received from Qwest. My name and number are changed for this post. For those of you who don't know, I am simply asking them for the name of the email server for Phoenix, a fairly basic question.

"Chat ID : affd9efc-9f5c-4cd0-bf53-85b6a7126a13
Date/Time: 12/18/2007 8:48:51
PMProblem : What are the Phoenix POP and SMTP servers?

Analyst Frank > Thank you for contacting Qwest QuickAssist. My name is Frank and my tech ID is FF1. Can you verify your name and DSL telephone number please?

Me > Me, 480 xxx xxxx

...wait 5 minutes...

Analyst Frank > I apologize for the issue you are having. That is something I can help you with and I'll attempt to get this resolved for you as quickly as possible. Give me just a few moments to look up the account and gather all the information I need to resolve this for you.

...wait 5 minutes...

Analyst Frank > I'm sorry, I'm showing that this is a VDSL account. You have reached ADSL Technical Support. Unfortunately the VDSL department is not setup in chat at this time. For future reference, the direct telephone number to call is 1-800-654-2180, option 3.

...and then immediately,

Analyst Frank > Analyst has closed chat and left the room"

Precious, isn't it? I wouldn't even have bothered to try the online chat if the information was published anywhere on their support site.

UPDATE: If you Google "qwest POP server", you will get an orphaned page about Dial-in & Roaming Numbers which will give you this information. There is no way to get there from qwest.net nor qwest.com.
