I just finished school and moved to NYC with some friends from my school. We all danced in college and are persueing acting careers. To keep us afloat until we made it big, we wanted to start a webcam. We put together the money we had saved and purchaced a nice server! We were ready to "show the world our stuff" to the world but we weren't sure we could afford a T1.
Then we found AceDSL! They offer half the speed of a T1 for only a small fraction of the cost! Their ACE_SDSL_768 was only 159.95 a month and looked too good to be true! I
It was too good ot be true.
Once we wee online we were able to get subscribers, but keeping them was a problem. Throughout peak hours we were unreachable, and when they could connect there was just too many dropped packets.
Our logs were filled with traffic for other customers, their router semed to be sending traffic all over the place. Their support claimed it was our configuration, but the problems would mysteriously disapear, and we would have changed nothing! Other times the outages were described as router reboots. When you have an audience waiting on your every breath, a router reboot can spoil your whole day.
Bottom line if you must have DSL and can't get anything else go ACEDSL if you need to run a business online. Go somewhere else!
UPDATE:
Two weeks ago MegaPath started routing packets on our new T1. We have had none of the problems we had with AceDSL.

I got a 384K SDSL from Ace last week. They figured that they would get the link started up in a week after I ordered. I got an email a few days after actually doing the order saying that they had started the order, and that it could take ten days. Uh oh, or so I thought. Three days later, they had everything installed. Sure, they can't promise three day turnaround when you place the order, but they said that this would probably happen and it did. +1 there.
My install was a hassle because of some IP addressing issues that I had. I was able to efficiently work with them to get a solution that was mutually acceptable. I never felt that they were out of line in their positions. They also have to make margins in a difficult business. +1 there.
When I left my Verizon 768/128 ADSL, my ShoutCast streams were getting on the very rough edge of listenable, even though they were fine a few months ago. IP addresses were changing constantly with them. With my new account, I have a fixed IP address, and the ShoutCast stream has run without a hitch. It says a lot about the quality and consistency of the connection. +1 again.
When I talked to Ace, they said that I might wonder about getting a DSL from them with the bad reports flowing around, and true to their word, my experience has been flawless. I have another friend that is with AceDSL, and she is very happy with them too. Given the speed that they install and the lack of term commitment, I don't think you can go wrong with trying these guys out.

Just say no! These guys are so clueless. By the time I managed to get a answer for the
errors compiling from by e-commerce trasactions, I had figured out the real problem. Lucky for
our company that CyberCash could verify orders for us. It turns out they have some hardware
issues, and at first blamed it on our LAN or server. Their technical contact which I had been
trying to reach for some time and was told 'left the company' I was told later was actually fired. I'm guessing that whatever issues they have internally have'nt been resolved, so until they hire a tech, expect no-one to have a clue how to work their system. We just moved to a space that is co-located with another host, and expired our local services with ace.

I ordered AceDSL online on June 30th, and the service was up and running on August 6. The fastest dsl service i ever had, even the installment of the service was the fastest i ever had. i was waiting for verzion dsl cuz it was the only one i can get. i waited a year and a half, nothing, when i do get it, the speed was the worst ever. til than i heard about acedsl from my friend and i came to dslreports.com and liked what i saw. so i ordered it on june 30th, blam next week, im online. im getting all kind of speed but it always above 500kbps down and 110 up. btw has anybody have problems accessing some of the site with boardband. i keep getting server error page on »www.theregister.co.uk/ . email me at alternatevirus@onebox.com if you can access that site or reply here.
UPDATE: I meant July 30th not june 30th lol and also theregister.co.uk reported that their server was down when i access it. so nothing is wrong with my service.
Update: Feb 6th, after having all of those outages, i called Acedsl again to find about what wrong, i went through everything with their tech support, and guess what, later found out that cuz i was running WinXP, it has a problem with with dsl. the guy told me what to do, and it works now. No pocket loss, no outages and all fast speed for the whole week now.

If you want to chat on IRC or play an online game, fire up your dialup modem, don't even think of using your Ace dsl account. The router is toast. About all it's good for is browsing and email. It's not a Verizon issue as I was lead to believe by the ace techies, the dsl modem lights all remain on during the outages, and by looking at the last few reviews it is not just me or my computer, and I refuse to check my settings anymore, they dont change while inuse, and they dont fix themselves. The ace router is hosed and needs to be dropped into the Hudson river. I would change this post to all 5 stars and a great review if the constant outages and delays would get taken care of. We al know outages happen, it can not be eliminated, but hours and hours of short outages every few minutes all dead at the second hop can. I just can't catch a break with dsl isp's, they all start out good a few months and either go belly up and disappear (flashcom, futurenet) or become useless (acedsl)

These guys are pretty decent although coming from Megapath I guess I've been spoiled with near zero connectivity issues. Even though I'm getting more download bang for my buck I've dropped connection at least 6 or 7 times since I fired up the modem this weekend. Downtimes have ranged from 5-10 minutes on average and one time being as high as a bit over an hour. Sync light hasn't missed a beat FYI. I'm hoping I'm just catching them at a bad time.
Outside of the dropped connection issue the line was extremely easy to install and is very fast now that it's up and running. Both the new modem and router are working well (had to purchase both, no biggy) and were simple to install.
Tech support is limited after hours and weekends to a paging system but they've been responsive to every email and call. Their accouts page is very simple and informative as well.
Overall they seem like a really good company. If they bang out the connectivity issues I'd give them 5 out of 5. We shall see.

OK that was my original review several months ago. In the last couple of weeks they went from a pretty decent ISP to utter crap. Their gateway for the last 48 hours has been giving horrible response times. Right now my first hop out from my system is spiking up to 2400ms. Nice huh? Not only that but their apparent backbone providor Above.net is nearly as bad or by this point WORSE than Alternet. Needless to say I'm horribly dissapointed in their service at this time. As a network administrator and a gamer I need this connection up for work and entertainment. I can't do either right now. I'm hunting for other solutions.
Sorry Ace guys. Your CS wasn't that great in the first place but a stable connection made up for it. Now you don't even have that.

Update: 2/11/2 Finally lost sync on the ZyXel. I am free!
UPDATE: 2/4/2 Today I canceled my service with acecape. And thought that sharing the letter with readers of DSLR, might save someone hassle of ever making the mistake of signing up with acecape/acedsl.
To: support_acedsl_com@acedsl.com, gene@acecape
Please accept this as a formal request to terminate accounts #717 and #1230. For the past months your service has been unacceptable. You have made many excuses, yet have never addressed many of the problems. The events of the past few weeks finalized this decision. Your not replying to e-mail does not make my concerns go away. When I e-mailed you regarding the attacks on my machine from acecape ip 66.114.66.72 ( my.IQ.is.your.intellectsquared.com) I expected you to do something about it, other than tell me you had "taken care of it" and ignore my further inquires. Your explaining that service outages and packet loss are "imaginary problems in my head" doesn't fix them, and your telling me to stop bothering you every time my connection goes down was the last straw, as a matter of fact that was the day I placed an order for DSL with another provider on my spare line. I would remind you that if you had provided service that preformed as advertised, I would never have needed to call you. Now that I have an alternative service installed, I have no use for your company. Tech support has at best been unresponsive and vauge, and at worst has been rude and misleading. The service started off well, but is now nothing but slow in intermittent. And while your prices are great for the service promised, they are robbery for the service delivered. I expect the credit of $20 on acct 717 to be placed back on my credit card, and do not feel that it is worth my effort to pursue the service credits I was promised by tech support, but never received.
Original review:
I really feel let down by Ace. When I signed up things were great, but since then I am forced to agree with many of the other posters that Ace has really gone downhill. I would feel beter if the reply to packet loss and downtime was somthing beter than "It is all in your head, stop bothering us with imaginary problems"

I forgot how long it took from sign up till i was finally able connect to the net. It was roughly 2 weeks. At first when i signed up which was somewhere back in Nov? Everything was looking good. I would have great pings for online gaming, since I'm a big coutnerstrike gamer. They even helped me reverse map my IP to a hostname I wanted. Then started the downfall. Which is just horrible, instead of coming home thinking "let me check my mail, see whose online, browse around" your thinking "i pray my dsl is up and running". I even asked why was the service so horrible, they're answer was simply call tech support, you may have a problem with your system(ok... there). I mean if you give a customer the ability to email/call/fax or whatever else and the customer chooses to email you because its more comfortable whya re you going to tell them to call? Seems pretty idiotic to me. I mean even though tech support gets you answers after asking them repeatly, its still a hassle. I even ask for some sort of refund/credit, basically their answer was no, So ive had it with the timeouts every 10 minutes, and the 6 hour downtimes, and the constant slowdowns, I have decided to cancel my account by the end of this current billing cycle. I'm going to sign up with Opitmum Online once it comes to my area. Thanks for robbing my acedsl

It was quite an experience to do dial up for a year and a half after a fast T3 line. Since cable is not available yet in my area, dsl was the only thing I could do for a faster connection.
The order/installation process could have been better. They were supposed to send me an update once they settled things with Verizon but they never emailed me. I had to email them a few days before my supposed activation date for the connection information. During the first few days I kept getting disconnected. The weekend made matters worse since they weren't able to help me until Monday. Tech support said it was something about my ethernet card - they detected two physical addresses. They finally gave me another ISP address when the problem couldn't be resolved. That was about a month ago and the connection has been reliable since the initial problems. The connection speed seems more volatile though. The speed is really slow at times, especially in the last week.
