    My Other Reviews·Midcontinent Commu..
PaulBunyan.Net was at one time good. However they have made some big mistakes. They only offer 1 mb and 5 mb service. They have an all optical network and fail to use it for anything more then 5 mb. Their Tech are very incompetent, this is the biggest of all problems. They are unable to trouble shoot common situations. If you have anything reconfigured they will automatically reset your connection to 1 mb service even if you pay for 5. I used to think it was a mistake but it seems it happens every single time you get on tech support with them, which makes me thinking its deliberate. They are pron to shutting off your service if you have a virus or if they just feel like it without any notification at all. And beware if you have a server, they will shut your service off even thou they have nothing against services in their contract or AUP. They took on a project a few years ago of expanding their network 65 miles to Grand Rapid MN. They must have over spent because their service has gone down hill ever since. I paid $108/mo for a 5 meg symmetrical connection and never got over 1.9 mb. Just before I disconnected from them they also started using bandwidth compression which would cause large downloads to get about 10% done and stall, I would have to restart downloads every few seconds. It looks to me like they overspent on their expansion projects, and now can not afford to pay for the bandwidth they need to cover their subscribers. Of course they would deny that, but then again it seems like the nuts are running the nuthouse there.
