If you are just looking for quality out going and you can connect multiple ATA's it's a great service. Setup was easy and the web account is simple. I've connect many people up with them and have never had an issue with voice quality.

If you are looking for incoming DIDs then look elsewhere. But if you are looking for a voip account that is cheap to call out on; then give them a try.

I don't think they offer live support, but the FAQs have the info needed and we don't have to pay a monthly just to know that someone in India will answer a question with an answer that maybe 100% correct but totally useless...

    Using DID's with CallWithUs

    Excellent review.

Regarding DID's, customers could get DID's from other sources (such as free IPKall, or Voip.MS, etc) and direct them (forward them) into the CWU account at no extra charge.

    My Other Reviews·Earthlink Cable Mo..
this is a 'pay-as-you-go' service - you only pay for the minutes you use on outgoing calls
this is a 'bring-your-own-device' service - you need to figure out how to configure the ATA device. the ATA cost about $70, and is my responsibility.

I've been using this service for 1 year - i've been amazed at the technical support - email are replied to within a half hour - once you have their attention - the replies are within 5 minutes.

there is a learning curve if you've never set up an ATA device.

call rates are currently 1.1cents per minute domestically (there are a lot of pennies in $19/month) - i signed up with them for the phone number (out of toledo, oh) for $2.10/month with 3000 inbound minutes - in the first year i've paid $45 for this service. local call routing is handled via google voice.

I've had more problems with my ISP failing than with this service failing.

Only a few items would make ( CallWithUs ) perfect.

    a. Buff up the home page when you navigate away from A2BILLING. The home page is a little difficult to navigate and keeps you looping back to your starting point.

    b. If their rates were downloadable as a CSV file, it would make looking up rates and reselling easier. The rate simulator is nice for a few numbers but wholesale use is impossible.

Overall I am very pleased with this service. I would and have recommended it to others.

"Excellent service!"

I often call friends and family in Thailand, and had been using prepaid calling cards, but the ones with good per-minute rates had fairly steep weekly maintenance fees, and the ones with low maintenance fees were relatively expensive per-minute. Looking for alternatives, I found CallWithUs, and their combination of no maintenance fees plus low rates to Thailand (currently about 1.5¢/min) sounded perfect for me.

I was pretty much a newbie to VoIP (and basically still am), so I started out using their service as a calling card—using my POTS line to call their access number, then entering a PIN, etc. Later, I decided to try a softphone (X-Lite), followed their configuration instructions, and got it up and working without a hitch. I've since gotten an ATA, and am using that for all calls.

I never used their DIDs (which they no longer offer, in any case), so I can't comment on that. I have, however, used their callback service, which was great when my mother went on vacation in Thailand. She could call the US without having to pay anything over there; the only charges were for CallWithUs, at around 2.5¢/min.

While testing out the callback service, I did run into a problem. I emailed support and got a reply (from the owner, I think) in about 15 minutes. After another exchange or two, we got it working. Total time: an hour. I haven't needed any support since then, but from what I've seen, support is quick and knowledgeable.

So all in all, I think they're great and don't have any complaints

I've used Call With Us for about a year now. Can't say enough good things about them. Excellent voice quality, and ease of connection. Prices are very competitive. I use it along with VoipDiscount, so it is easier for me to compare the two.

VoipDiscount (as well as other BetaMax companies) has free calling to US - so web calls and external PBX solutions where provider makes calls to both destinations don't add any cost. CWU is 1.5c/min for US.

On the upside, I could never get a response from VoipDiscount; whereas CWU responds in less than 24 hours (sometimes in a few hours). Also, you can pay through PayPal and Google Checkout.

About the website. While the site is intentionally very simplistic, there is a feature that I haven't seen anywhere else. It has well-defined APIs, so you can retrieve data programmatically. Also, you can specify "VoIP accounts", so I know, which of the sources the call originated. I have two ATAs, and two cell phones that use one CWU account - so it's a nice feature.

CWU does not allow incoming SipBroker calls, but you can forward IPKall numbers to sip.callwithus.com - so it can be used as DID - if you are OK with Washington State phone number. They stopped offering DIDs, but frankly, their DID prices were not very competitive to begin with.

Last, they have access number (in Ohio) - so I can use it as an old-time "prepaid card" call if I want to call abroad from my cell phone.

Two annoyances that I had this year. For some reasons couldn't reach Ukraine and Belarus on default trunk. The calls showed connected but the other party didn't even hear the phone ringing. Which was annoying, since these are more expensive countries (Ukraine - 9c/min, Belarus - 20c/min). For Ukraine Sergey suggested to force a different provider (a penny more, but I never had a problem), and for Belarus I am using VoipDiscount.

    Overall - great provider

CWU does allow incoming SipBroker calls.

    Your review is great.

But you said that CWU doesn't allow incoming SipBroker calls.

Actually, it DOES allow that. I do it all the time. I just did one now.

CWU SipBroker code for incoming calls is *8052. Works fine.

It is also easy to forward incoming calls by SIP URI, not just from ipKall, but also from carriers such as CallCentric and Voip.MS.

Just call or forward to xxxxxxxxx@sip.callwithus.com where the x's represent the 9-digit voip user name, NOT the 10-digit account number.

    It's a great service.

Re: CWU does allow incoming SipBroker calls.

You are correct about sipbroker. I am using *8052, but I thought it was VoipDiscount. SipBroker (»www.sipbroker.com/sipbroker/acti···itePages) split providers into 12 pages, ordered by access code - makes it very difficult to look at your provider!

You are correct on the second point as well. I was using IPKall only as an example (and because that's what I am using). And since you can have multiple devices associated with one account (distinguished by 9-digit voip user name) - you can forward different numbers to different devices

I switched to CWU as my only outgoing provider in July 2007 because their rates to Greece were good. They were essentially my only outgoing provider registered on my ATA. I've always had good luck using CWU when traveling from my laptop.

After about a year of good service I discovered my wife had stopped calling on the VOIP line because calls were not connecting. I reported the problem and Sergey had me precede each call with *33 with gave us the premium trunk (for higher cost). Calls were acceptable again. Sergey had to tell me how to change my SPA dialplan to accept *33. He reported that he would "work with the first route provider, if they can't fix the problem soon I will remove them from call routing to Greece." I've seen forum entries that this is common among the lower cost VOIP providers. They don't know something wrong unless a customer complains.

Now I have set up an asterisk server and am using someone else as default for calling to Greece to keep my 'wife acceptance factor' rating up. But I do use CWS as a backup and as my primary for calling from my laptop. A no cost backup is good to have. Lately I have noticed CWU outages that last a few hours.

If my Grand Central number ever goes away my plan was to buy a DID from CWU. Unfortunately they no longer offer DIDs to US residents because of mandatory e911 requirements. I'm just so impressed with the honest classy effort from CWU, that I wanted to buy more from them.

CallWithUs promotes itself as a family-owned and operated service. If you contact support, you get a reply from the owner/operator himself. CallWithUs is strictly a BYOA and PAYG provider. Why would you want a provider with some monthly plan, where you're paying for minutes you don't use?!

When you create an account, CWU will give you some free minutes to test the service before you pay anything. If you don't like it, nothing lost!

I originally intended CWU to be a backup provider. I got it working and pretty much left it sit for a couple of months. During some initial testing, I experienced post-dial-delay with a few calls and slight audio breakup once or twice. I was browsing around the CWU FAQ's and noticed the reference to SIP REINVITEs delivering the best quality calls. I enabled this on the website; my firewall is SIP friendly and has no issues. I really feel there is an improved audio quality and I have not experienced post-dial-delay. Watching this on a sniffer, you see that your RTP voice stream goes directly to CWU' wholesale providers, instead of being proxied via CWU in Lansing, MI or their west coast server. The providers I saw my calls going to include XO in Mass., Broadvox in TX, and Eurorings somewhere in Europe. I am now sending CallWithUs the majority of my calls.

I only use CWU for outgoing calls. You can set your outgoing CID number directly in the user portal. The minutes you buy do not expire.

Overall, I really like the simple and complete design of the website and user portal.

Be sure to read the Fine Print at the bottom of the web pages!

    -------

Update 9/29/2008: I have stopped using CWU due to misrouted calls. The number I dialed and the number that showed in the CDR was right, but that's not who I got. This only happened 2 or 3 times and I did not report the problem, but my expectation is no misrouted calls.

While very very rare, they did experience an extended outage ....

I am using them currently both at home and at my office. Service is generally quite good. Once in a while, some calls won't go through, or once in a great while there will not be dial tone. But that is NOT common. And, heck, that happens with my Verizon landline too!

    CWU very good overall.

Callwithus has a nice feature where you can specify different routes for an outgoing call. I find this is very useful for international calls to certain countries where the call quality can suffer at certain busy times during the day. Generally, though, callwithus call quality is excellent.

    My Other Reviews·Future Nine Corpor..
I've tried a half dozen or more VoIP and was always looking for something better until a friend recommended callwithus. It's everything I was looking for with great rates and support. I recommend them to all my friends.

Update 9/23/08: I continue to have good success. I pay 1.25 cents/min for outgoing calls to toll numbers. I think it's 0.3 cents/min to toll free numbers. I pay $2.10/mo for my DID with $1/mo extra for voicemail. DID cost varies considerably depending on which area code is selected. I chose the cheapest one I could find since area code was unimportant to me. I configured my Granstream HT-502 to work with the service. I did recently reconfigure my ATA with G729 CODEC as first priority. The default is G711 which requires more bandwidth; which I don't have. I can pick up my voicemail through the phone or via email attachment. All in all, a very reliable service.
