Just moved into the area a couple months ago and went with Baja because I already had a cable modem. Installer came to the house and did a great job, but the new tech employee had troubles getting my modem to connect. Installer called more experienced tech and it was up and running in a couple minutes with the 10mb down / 1mb up.
Had an argument with billing because they quoted me $43/mo before I signed up and didn't mention or told me there was no $10 fee for internet only. Can't argue too much considering I was paying Mediacom $63/mo for 8mb down / 512k up. Got my first bill, which was their second bill, so there was a late fee on it. Called billing and the lady not only took off the fee, but gave me the $20/mo for 3 months deal that they were running, so that was bonus.
Bottom line, minus a couple billing quirks, I'm completely satisfied. I'm getting peak speed, it's almost never down, and my internet phone works. I didn't check Qwest, but 7mb down for $47 in area. I don't mind $6/mo more for an extra 3mb.

I have 512k up 6MB down. Speed is pretty good, 700k+ downloads. No usage caps, no p2p throttling and it is up 99.9% of the time. Took some time to get them out to put it in, but the techs did a decent job. Supplied modem is an Ambit, looks cheesy, but works fine. Don't bother calling tech support, they are useless.

Baja has progressively been upgrading service offering HD and recording services on the TV side. Upgrade has had a lot of problems, but they are gradually working them out. They just upgraded speed from 6MB down /512KB up to 10MB down and 1MB up. So far have seen the down go slightly over 8MB, but as this is daytime speed check expect higher speeds during non peak hours. Up looks to be close to 1MB allowing for overhead. This is the second un-announced speed increase - rates so far unchanged. Note above survey info really is not applicable as original service provider was Charter who sold the company to BAJA. Have had cable broadband since February 2000.

"Speed is great- most of the time"
"Reliability is not as good as it used to be; Billing is messed up every month"
"When it works well, it is superb."

This was Charter Pipeline for , oh about 6 years. Started out at 1.5 megs download, and was NEVER down for more than an hour or so maximum once or twice a year A couple of years ago, they bumped the speed up to 3 megs at no extra charge , which was nice.
Then about 5 months ago it was taken over by Orange Broadband, unannounced, who bumped the speed to 4 megs down and 256k up... That was nice. ...other than the confusion over who to pay because I got bills from both Charter and Orange.
A month later they changed the name to Baja Broadband. And I got THREE different bills. And billing has been messed up every month (sometimes I get two bills per month) since.
They bumped the speed to nominally 6 megs down and 512 up. And it usually runs 4.7 to 5.7 gigs down and about 420K up according to the speed tests here. That 'rocks'. Especially considering I'm in a little town in the middle of nowhere.
But the reliability has gone down lately. Have had more hours of compete outage or major slow downs in the last couple of months than in the previous five+ years all together. I'm not sure if they are upgrading equipment or the old stuff is just isn't up to the bandwidth they are trying to provide.
Overall, I am extremely happy with the high speed, especially with the massive downloading of big files I have been doing lately. I suppose that the usual great speed more than makes up for the intermittent slowdowns and outages, but after years of ~99.9% uptime, it is kind of irritating.
If they ever get the billing problems fixed, I'll be a lot happier with them. They probably deserve a better review than I'm giving them;... I could still be on dialup! and compared to the time I tried DSL, Baja is superb.
