I just moved to Keller Texas, near Dallas/Fort Worth and obtained phone and DSL service with One Source Communications.
They are a small provider in the local area with service in communities north of Fort Worth only. They are not a CLEC, they have their own fiber in the ground, their own neighborhood cabinets and copper to the homes. They exist along side of both SBC and Verizon, but do not share any equipment. They provide phone, local and long distance, ADSL, and cable TV.
So far, so good. Advertised speed 10mbs/764kbs and my actual is ~9mbs/750kbs to Dallas test sites.
Only issue I have is that you have to use their provide modem, which the customer is completely locked out of, making connection troubleshooting, pulling stats, or functional testing impossible for the user. I have not needed it yet, but I can see calling a truck roll, them finding the issue on my end, and it costing me money due this limitation.
1 Year Update: The service has been rock solid, no outages so far. I do, occasionally, have to reboot the modem, usually in the mornings, but thats no trouble to me, probably a system/network change overnight is the cause.
