OnePine (which should be called OneEmployee since I think that's all they/he had), virtually went out of business and didn't even bother to tell anyone. Prior to that, service disruptions had become so common that it was doubtful what was going on. It seems the system was on auto pilot for awhile. We tried to contact OnePerson, but he was invariably unreachable. I went down to the corporate offices one day on the Avenue of the Americas to try to co-locate my servers in view of the outages, only to find that the address was actually a post office box, not quite big enough to stuff my servers into.
I can only imagine how difficult it was for OnePine to stay on top of technical issues, and there were many times I'd call over in the dead of night, even on vacations, and the dedicated OnePerson was still there, manning the phones and fixing the system. I can't knock dedication like that.
When his email server was hacked, he moved everyone to IMAP, but this left my internal LAN in the lurch since I couldn't get IMAP through my firewall. OnePine told me in August that he'd set up a special POP mail server for me, but OnePerson was literally unreachable from that point through November, when the service disruption became severe.
However, all that being said, OnePine wasn't a failure. When things were going ok, they were going ok. The DSL market, for servers, is a lot more stable now, with a lot more options than it was when I first started serving pages. At the time, OnePine was one of few alternatives and he bravely handled the shop. Curiously, service would die out when there was rainy weather - I never did figure that out, but I don't have that problem with my new ISP even though I have the same router and wires.
So, I have to extend my thanks to OnePine for making a good run at it in the early going, and pulling the long hours to make it happen. This was my second DSL ISP, and, although the last three or four months were hell, the first fourteen months went relatively smoothly (except during rainy weather).

Placed my order, and with in three weeks, DSL was installed on time, had to reschedule, and since only been down for about 1 hour total, with very little problems during the WTC Incident, getting avg 1MB down and 300K up, paying for 768/128. The service is good, they are responsive. I've been recommending this to anyone.
