    They are seriously very good.
You don't hear about them, I guess it's just through reviews and word of mouth.

They reply emails, take calls almost all the time.

I've been using Teliax with Asterisk for well over two years and only now got around to reviewing them...

    The good:
    - Teliax is one of the oldest Asterisk-friendly providers, and it shows
    - Reliability can't be beat -- service is almost never down, and on the rare occasion when it is, there's almost always an explanation
    - Support is better than average
    - Local numbers are available almost everywhere...something that can't be said for a lot of other providers (VoicePulse has good local number availability in some regions but relatively poor availability in others; a lot of other Asterisk-friendly providers are limited to large cities)

    The not-so-good:
    - Teliax is rather expensive when compared to others (Vitelity, VoicePulse Connect since they revised their outbound rates, etc.); international rates are good but not great. OTOH, Teliax does offer quasi-unlimited plans, something which is rarely seen from other Asterisk-friendly providers. (I don't consider BroadVoice, ViaTalk, etc. truly Asterisk-friendly, as they don't normally allow for multiple concurrent calls and so on)
    - Parts of the service can be a bit quirky at times; CNAM, G.726-32 support, etc. tend to be somewhat flaky

IMO, when it comes to VoIP in general and Asterisk-friendly providers in particular, you get what you pay for...and Teliax, while expensive, has enough going for it that they remain at the top of my list.

    Re: Cost?

That's pretty good. A lot of the VoIP's do have unlimited minutes though for that price; however, if you are happy then it is a good deal. Nothing is free and no company is trying to give away anything, if it is too cheap it is for a reason.

I moved to Teliax in May 2005 when my previous VOIP company suffered a melt-down. It was easy to sign up on the web site, but it took a little screwing around to get my Sipura 2000 going. I came to Teliax based on Broadbandreports forum discussion of their BYOD offering.

We have no DID, so our "Pay as you GO" has no monthly costs or fees. Calls to the US and Greece now both cost $.02/min. (Cost were lower when I signed up.) We usually have more minutes a month to Greece than to the US.

Since inbound calls would also cost $.02/min with a $4.99/month charge for the local number, we have kept our basic ATT line. We've had 2 lines on all our phones from the days when we had a second line for business and modem dial up. Now the VOIP line from the Sipura is connected as line 2 on all phones. It makes it very convenient to use VOIP and switch to wired service when needed. (It keeps the wife complaints to a minimum.)

The Teliax idea of setup support for Sipura products is to provide a link to the Sipura web site. I sent a note to support asking about parameters and a dial string, but they said they had no information. Folks in »www.teliax.com/forum/ suggested I use the Teliax support Linksys PAP2 guide, which was a big help. (The parameters are essentially the same.)

For most of the first year, call quality was great. But I am glad I kept a basic POTS line with decent long distance Teliax is not reliable enough to be our only long distance option. While they are usually up, my wife lets me know when she can't get a call to connect or the quality isn't good enough. For more than 6 months now, she has been unable to use Teliax for calls to Greece. Every time she tries, the connection is unusable. She reports that calls to the US and France are OK. When she calls me at work via Teliax, I usually notice quite a bit of echo.

Teliax support has suggested I try different gateways, but there was no improvement. They have seemed to imply that their connections in Greece can not be improved. I will probably continue to us my Teliax account to use up my balance, but I don't plan to fund it again.

I've had Teliax for 12+ months on the pay-as-you-go plan (using Asterisk). I have 2 DID's with them. Teliax has been rock solid. Tech support does seem to be hit or miss on speed, but great on technical ability. Sometimes you get immediate response and sometimes you do not.
