I am too far out for Cable & DSL and need a broadband connection for VPN to my office & customers. The service is Awesome but 60 a month for 5 GB @ 1mb speed is a bit pricey I am considering Cricket when my contract expires. You would think Verizon would give me a discount bundle with my phones.

When I first got Verizon DSL it took a while to get some connection problems fixed, but now it has been over a year with no problems. So I am happy. Because of the distance from the office I can't get a higher speed, so I waiting for Verizon FIOS to migate to. Good value for the money.

This software is ok... The air card works everywhere. The only problem I have encounter is if using it while mobile; ie; in the car while moving, it will sometimes drop the connection. But for the most part it works all of the time..

If your constantly mobile Verizon BroadbandAccess is great. I'm currently in limbo with my living situation and plus I'm starting a mobile business. I connect to Verizon BroadbandAccess through a USB connected to my Voyager (LG VX10000). Their service was exactly what I needed for the time being and I'll probably keep it when I'm settled just for my business. So far, it's reliable, but speeds fluctuate depending on location. On one side of town I get ~350kbps and the other ~1,200kbps. Either speed is usable for my needs, but you can't stream video on 350kbps very well (see paragraph 4).
The install is very easy and really requires no special software. The phone is detected as a modem and you can set it up just as you would a dial-up connection. I run Ubuntu Linux, so I couldn't use their software anyway. The dial-up number is #777 and the username is your phone number and the password is vzw. The first time you connect and try to pull up the web you're automatically redirected to the ordering page. After accepting their terms & conditions you just disconnect and reconnect in a few minutes while your account is being provisioned. I was online in 5 minutes.
I've tried the VZAccess Manager software on Windows and it is a bit more useful. Their software will show you your signal strength and report to you how much bandwidth you have used for your billing period.
Which brings us to the bandwidth cap. It's 5/GB a month. I wouldn't suggest streaming video on a constant basis as it does tend to use a lot more bandwidth. It's $0.25 per MB once you exceed the bandwidth cap.
Overall I'm happy with the service. The price is a bit much at $60 a month, but I think it is worth it considering how convenient it is.

I've lived in a rural area for 15 years with my property surrounded on three sides by mountains. My first ISP was dial-up and after several years I graduated to hughes.net (direcway at the time) satellite as my only option for anything faster. (I'll be old and grey when DSL becomes available in my area.)
When my Verizon cell phone service's 'new every two' option came up last month, I bought a Palm Centro with broadband access capability and decided to try it as my internet service provider as well. Only receiving 1 bar on my phone inside my home, I knew I was going to have to purchase some type of antenna/booster set up, which I did and it was delivered a few days ago: A zboost repeater and 15 dbi yagi antenna.
The wireless zboost came standard with an omni directional antenna which is what I have set up right now (until I've got enough daylight to set the yagi up) and it's sitting inside my window, not even outside. With the Centro tethered to my desk top computer and using the zboost I'm getting download speeds of 1.2 Mbps, no dropped connections and I'm happier than a puppy with two tails. I'm paying the same price as I paid for hughes but the biggest diff is I have no daily download limit as I did with hughes which was my biggest gripe. The money I paid for the booster/antenna set up is well worth it. Verizon customer service is great, they speak English and have always been nothing but helpful even when I needed tech help with my phones in the past. Life is good !

"Usable practically anywhere."
"Horrible latency during peak hours, 5GB/billing cycle cap."
"Good if you're on the go, or extremely desperate. Otherwise find something else."

The circumstances that brought me to Verizon for broadband service go as follows: I'm in the midst of an extensive home remodeling that's going to take the better half of this year, and needed broadband connectivity that could be practically guaranteed regardless of location. Living with relatives out in the boonies where cable and dsl don't service means one's options are severely limited.
Anyways, I mostly have gripes regarding this service stemming from my life as a consummate gamer. The 5GB cap is extremely restrictive, basically it is useful only for daily web browsing, emailing and the occasional Windows patch download. It is too limiting for anything else. Forget playing games over this sort of connection, at best you'll see pings of 100-120ms, more than likely 150-170ms, and during peak hours, 450+. The maximum download rate of the service barely competes with the cheapest of DSL plans, 2Mbit down and roughly half a megabit up. If the local cell node is congested, then speeds and overall service responsiveness drop like a brick of lead.
Really the only positive aspect of service like this is that you can use it practically anywhere. If you have cellphone service, you have internet access, and it's better than nothing in most cases (but dialup is at very least consistent).
I rated Pre-Sales Information 3/5 cuz Verizon's sales associates are largely clueless. You really have to speak to someone accustomed to servicing corporate customers to find out the difference between the USB and ExpressCard phones (yes, they're still technically phones, with their own numbers), and their USB phones are flimsy and easily breakable. The ExpressCard (which I have) seems much less prone to incidental breakage, which is just as well, as Asurion WPP insurance is $5 extra per month.
I rated Install process 3/5 because nowhere do they explain that you have to call up Verizon to activate the phone (and agree to the terms of the contract) before you can actually start using the thing. Only after repeated failures of trying to activate the phone through VZAccess Manager did it finally spit out a phone number to call to activate the phone manually.
Connection reliability 2/5 since I've been forced to reset the connection multiple times in the last few days (and I've only had the service for this long) due to overcrowding on the local node. Plus the aforementioned gripes regarding latency, particularly during peak hours.
Services 4/5 because yes, I'm that desperate for internet connectivity in the first place. I'm shamelessly addicted to the Internet, particularly online gaming, and even though I can't do much of that with this service, I'm not completely disconnected from the modern outside world as I would be if I went without this service.
Value for money 2/5 cuz $70/month for service that I have very few positive things to say (and much to complain about) doesn't deserve anything higher. It's not absolute crap (or I'd have eaten the $150 early termination fee already) but for this much money, Verizon has a lot to answer for. If you can live without internet access or can find something better in your area, then I suggest you go that route. This is only for those few of us that are hopelessly addicted to net connectivity stuck in areas where there are very few options.

1/09 - Service at work (where I mainly use this device) had some issues awhile back when Verizon moved their tower from a building to a stand alone tower. Tech support wasn't very helpful but I finally got to some folks that knew a thing or two. Still using a Rev0 card since I've not upgraded my laptop to use the RevA card they gave me this year. Service works fine and the issues at work seem to have magically disappeared.
My bill still says "Unlimited KB per month". But I only download around 500MB a month. Too lazy to test them on their 5GB quota.
-----------
3/30 - Noticed my bill had gone up $0.60 this month. I called in to inquire why my bill had gone up (I never use my minutes, roam, call LD or go over my data plan). The person I spoke with said that the administrative fee had gone up $0.30 for both the data and voice lines. I told her I was going to review my customer agreement because when I bought the plans I agreed that my rate would not change for 2 years. She agreed and said that she would credit my account every month for the remainder of my contract for the said $0.60! Now that's service.
Also, sometime back in February my data card decided that it no longer wanted to maintain a stable connection. Called them up on a Friday afternoon and had my new card on Monday morning. Took 1 10 minute call to get the new card up and running.
12/1 - recently, I grabbed Dr TCP and modified my laptop's RWin settings. Speed is now running around 1.3Mbps down and 130kbps up. Latency is still a little high - average to www.yahoo.com was 208ms. Not too bad for surfing or telnet applications. Still worth the coin to me. Wish I used my cell phone as much as I use this card.
The one complaint I have is the connection reliability during rain/thunderstorms. The card has a lot of trouble staying connected. I've got 4 bars of signal and it will still drop quite a bit in nasty weather. I quit using the VZN Manager software once tech support told me how to configure DUN to make the connection. VPN issues are gone now that I use a Juniper client instead of a Checkpoint client. The Juniper dealie is a ActiveX plugin for Internet Explorer and seems to work very well. Every time the card has connection issues I call up tech support and complain.
I use this card 99.8% of the time at work. I've used it at home twice. I am too far away from the tower for the card to work with any speed. If my primary internet connection failed and I just HAD to get to the internet it'd be ok.
----------------
So I came into the early 90's by getting a cell phone. Actually, I was more interested in the wireless internet than the cell phone. Service, without voice is about $100 a month. I figure I'm getting the cell phone for free in this case.
I started with the free 5740 something card. It worked, but not so well. No external antenna on it. Did manage to get a 700/200ish connection standing next to a tower. I took the card back before my 15 days were up and ordered the Kyocera 650 card. It has an external antenna as well as antenna ports. Took them a week to get me the new card (even though after a delay and screw up of the order and a reorder via over night).
This new card works much better at my home. I'm sure it should prove to work as well as if not better at work (were aforementioned cell tower lives). Got 400/100 at the house on 2 bars.
Hope I like this service to keep paying $60/mo for 2 years. And that I don't go over my "unlimited" 10GB/month allotment of bandwidth.
Paid $19.99 for the card using my work's discount plan. So far, it's worth the 20 bucks.
