When looking for a host, I had a few requirements:
1) Reasonable server space 2) IMAP email 3) Cpanel 4) Dedicated IP 5) Ample MySQL Databases 6) Spam Assassin
Hosting Zoom meet or exceeded all the above. Complete list of package of services is located here: »www.hostingzoom.com/web-hosting.html . An added advantage is that the east coast datacenter is that of the world class NAC »www.nac.net/tour/ipix1.asp
The deciding factor for me was SMTP port options. I had test driven the highly recommended Surpass Hosting. They offered very similar options and price, however, while tech support insisted that port 26 was configured for my shared server, it wasn't. With Hosting Zoom not only has port 26 open, but 465 for SSL support as well. After exchanging more than one support email ticket over two days, we got nowhere. The only time that I have contacted Hosting Zoom for support was via Chat. That was instant and pleasant.
After a month of service, I can say at this point that I'd recommend them. Time shall tell however...
7/2/2007 UPDATE- I've had the HostingZoom service for nearly a year and am still very happy with the quality of the service and support when needed.
In Jan of '07 I upgraded my account to a Failover account. More info about the service is available here: »www.hostingzoom.com/web/web-hosting.html and here: »www.hostingzoom.com/web/technology.html .
According to my third party monitoring service, since updating to the Failover account, my uptime has been very good:
2007-01-31/151 days Uptime: 99.93% Downtime: 2 hour 11 min 46 seconds
