If you read their information on their site. Voip is one of the three businesses they are in. They are not looking to be the biggest. The last voip company I used allways spent more time convincing me I didnt have a problem then listening. I gave quantum voice a try because people said they will treat you like a customer not a phone number. Don't care for the vmx but that is always something that can change.

I wanted to switch over to VoIP service and read some of the reviews on the web for services. Based on the reviews for popular choices, nothing looked good enough to signup for. I just did not want to take the risk of running into issues for a service I have never tried or installed before.

I explored around dsl reports found a VoIP provider that had decent ratings. I jumped onto their website to read more and they had a comparison chart with other VoIP service providers. One of them happened to be Quantum Voice. They ranked QV 2 spots down from their service. I checked out QV's site and then came back here to DSL reports and read about them. Turns out the service rating on here was higher than the other service provider.

The key aspects of me signing up with QV was customer support and reliability. I took me another good week to read over QV's website. QuantumVoice provides so much information but in a way that's easy for most people to understand. For a company who's main service isn't even VoIP, I was impressed with the detailed information they put onto their site and the good reviews they got here.

I finally decided to take the plunge and ordered the 800 Unlimited Residential Plan on Jan 24th. I ordered a local phone number (10/month) and a local fax number (5/month). The next day I got an email asking me to confirm my email address in which I did. A few days later, I received a notice of order process. Then Jan 31st I got an email saying my order was shipped. I got my ATA kit yesterday Feb 3rd.

Last night I logged into my phone portal and did some adjustments there. This morning I read through the instructions, plugged in my ATA device and 20 minutes later I was up and running and calling around to test the voice quality. The quality was great and no one could tell the difference. Luckily, I still had an analog phone I could plug into since the ATA device is not compatible with digital phones.

All my questions I emailed to the support team were answered within 2 to 3 days. The support team seems very technical and was able to answer all my questions.

Quantum Voice has shown professionalism every step of the way so far from pre-sales to order to setup. I would not hesitate to recommend this company to anyone else looking for VoIP service. If they have other services in my area, I would totally consider them.

I have wanted to try out voip for a while and with the holiday seasons coming soon my phone bill ordeals convinced me it was time to try it out. I asked a few friends and they pointed me to DSL Reports, which is great because there is so much info on the different companies. I wasn't worried about the price differences so much as I just didn't want to get service and regret it. I am kind of a gadget guy anyhow so it was fun shopping around. I sent and email to info@quantumvoice.com and it was like having an assigned sales rep just for me! I asked a million questions and sent email back and forth for a week before placing an order. By the end of the week I had the phone converter, plugged it in and it worked perfectly! I just realized that I have a separate E-fax number as well, so I am pretty pleased with my choice. Thanks for this forum - hope I have helped someone else with their decision! J.P., Buffalo NY

My experence since my last review has changed. I had an outage for 2 weeks where there was very little commumications from QuantumVocie on their fixing it. Finally after constant reminders it got fixed. They have now changed my billing agreement with them (free service in exchange for advertising) and are charging me without contacting me about the change. Emails to their billing department about this change has not been answered. At this point I can no longer recommend them.

Update 11/19/05: As an update, a day after I updated the above review I got a hold of the president of QV via email. He explained that their service is not normally like this and he will look into it. I never got a reply back on what he found out.

He also explained that they started using new accounting software and it was causing a lot of problems and that is why response from billing was slow. Not sure how a company would allow any problem to cause replies to email to take longer then a week (I never did get a reply from the billing dept.)

He assured me that my service would be cancelled and my money would be refunded. As of this point my service is still active and I have not received a refund.

I decided to go with QV after reading many of the reviews on DSL Reports. Although they were the most expensive, I felt that the added cost was worth it based on the reviews of great call quality, and little or no system down-time.

I decided to transfer my existing number, which caused a major delay. QV customer support initially dropped the ball on keeping me informed, however, after 1 email back to them they did keep me updated.

The number transfer went pretty smooth. I have had a couple of minor issues, probably related to my ISP. Their customer support has been really good in responding to most problems.

The only issue I have is that they do not currently offer caller-id with name. I was confused as to whether it was offered or not due to the conflicting information on their website. Unfortuantely the lack of name has been an issue in the household. I see that others such as SunRocket offer caller-id with name and wonder why QV does not.

I am having a problem with caller-id when I call someone on a cell phone. Call comes up "Caller id unavailble." QV was notified but as of yet has not fixed this problem.

It has been less than a month, so I am willing to wait. Hopefully QV will fix the caller-id issue.

Update: 9/11/05: QV has told me they are testing the Callerid w/name. I also signed up for Sunrocket a week ago and planned to port my number over to SR. I had service on SR only briefly before their outages and cancelled that service. Hoping the number porting does not go through. I am keeping QV for the time being, their overall service is good, but my wife has issues with the caller-id, so that is now my issue

Update: 10/13/05: Overall QV is working fine. There is an occasional delay, but I think that may be related to Comcast and not QV. Still waiting for Caller-id, which may be the one reason why I would drop QV. We use Panasonic Cordless phones with talking caller-id and my wife constantly complains about the phone announcing "Unknown" Of course, we could turn off the voice, but she doesn't want to hear that.

My wife and I had VoIP service from another provider. We dropped the other provider after our one-year contract expired because the voice quality suffered as more people signed up. We chose Quantum Voice because of the rave reviews the company got here.

My Linksys PAP-2 ATA arrived about a week after I placed my order online. Setting it up was easy. Just plug the ATA into an available port on your broadband router, plug in a telephone, get dial tone. The ATA is set to accept a DHCP address. If you need to set a static IP address that is possible through the ATA's web-based interface or by using the voice-prompts through a connected telephone.

I have called and written QV's customer support and technical support a number of times before and after I have placed my order. Each time I called their customer support, I reached somebody who was actually using a Quantum Voice connection in their home. I have asked them what kind of internet connection they are using. One had a 1.5M/128k Verizon DSL conenction. Another had a cablemodem connection. So, I got to listen first-hand of what the call quality is like with this service. I was impressed because I was hardly able to tell any difference in audio quality.

All the reps I spoke with or wrote to were all knowledgeable and friendly. If they didn't have the answer, they called me back and gave me the info looking for. I asked them all sorts of technical questions and they all came back with helpful information. These people did not read from a script. They all sounded like they were knowledgable of the technology and were able to help me make good decisions.

The voice quality of this service is amazing. As I mentioned before, my wife and I had VoIP service with another provider, but cancelled the service soon after the contract expired. The audio quality with the other provider was just horrible. The call quality with Quantum Voice is amazing. Everyone that I have called had no idea that I was using a VoIP carrier. No noticable delays, distortions, drop-outs, or other audio issues. It just works. It works like a regular phone. It sounds like a regular phone call.

    I highly recommend this service.

Thanks to DSL Reports I was able to find this company that provides what appears to be the only truly unlimited Toll Free Service on the voip market. I am not sure how they do it because everyone else has set up some sort of usage limits. I have a small business that I run from my home and I need a toll free line, which I advertise and take calls from all over Colorado.

They include a separate E-fax number with the service - plus I can forward my calls anywhere through the web portal. They don't list all their services on the web site so you may have to ask them if they can help you out. I found out they can do toll free voice mail numbers as well.

Hope this posting helps someone with their decision as it did for me.

www.quantumvoice.com - By far the best value on the Voip market. I love the simultaneous ring because I can pick up house calls on my cell phone. Their support staff is great! I had a local network problem that was effecting my service and their engineer worked with me for almost an hour before finding my self induced problem. My cousin is using their "unlimited" toll free service to run his personal business and it is saving him a load of cash. She got a free month of service for referring me to their service along with her three neighbors, so she is happy with it too.

They have a BYOD program so I was able to use my own adapter.

Day 1 looked for best reviews on here in DSL REPORTS. I quickly found best ratings with QuantumVoice. Had one question for them... e-mail to QuantumVoice... Quick response - question answered. Day 2 ordered 800 BYOD plan. Also day 2 order my ATA from Froogle with 2 day shipping. I receive my ATA, plug it into my router and it didn't work. 5 min later after powering up and down ATA and router I e-mail QuantumVoice about problem. They tell me on the BYOD program that I signed up for the ATA that I purchased myself does not come configured to run the VOIP. I need to configure it myself. (I bought my own ATA due to myself thinking it was similar to buying your own cable box for T.V. investment up front savings in rear with a plug and play just as on a cable box) So what happens next...... QuantumVoice understands my confusion on the ATA and helps me configure it. Five minutes later up and running with the 800 number and no outages since. I can't believe I found something that actually WORKS in Cook County! ( QuantumVoice + Comcast = No Problems.) I have e-mailed all friends and family the info to sign up. I feel as if I have a personal friend in the VOIP business. QuantumVoice, do yourself a favor contact www.theternionproject.com for a new website. Vonage is spending all their time on television ads. You redo your website and you will have the total package!!!
