"Seem the cheaper on paper"
"Cannot reuse current phone number before May 2004"
"price change on the fly on the website"

I was going to use this company after reviewing ALL the others company that provide this kind of service.

The other close competitor was Vonage 15$ by month 500 minutes but extra minute with Vonage is 3.9 cents by minute compared to 2.9 cents by minute with Broadvox.

Broadvox said it's 13$ by month 500 minutes but when I started to fill the form to order, the image changed to 300 minutes ! They still don't support to reuse my current phone number. They are supposed to support this from May 2004. Vonage can already do that.

Broadvox have the free feature to have a second number(same line) in another area so your friend or family can call you for free which Vonage doesn't have.

However the 911 support of Vonage is more flexible. Vonage seem also to provide a better phone adapter which get the priority on the network so you have more chance to keep a high quality of voice when you share the bandwidth with a computer.

You can't talk with cutomer service, they are always busy.
The customer service phone number doesn't work.
You can't make a connection between two Broadvox phone numbers, I opened a trouble ticket and they closed the ticket blaming the Sipura box, I tested the Sipura box with Voicepulse and with FWD and the connections are OK

When I saw that BVD was going to have another pre launch with DSL forum users I was very happy to sign up. I was impressed by what I read and the input of Mr. Williams. It was very easy to get the device and took a very short time from order to receipt of the sipura. I could hardly wait to give it a go. I thought the list of features sounded great.

However, once I received the service it was virtually impossible to get a number that worked for both incoming and outgoing calls. I changed my number 3 times and was waiting for my fourth number when I finally gave up and decided to cancel service.

While the call quality on out going calls seemed good, it was hard to get a realistic test and the road to getting the line working correctly became too time consuming.

I tried for almost three weeks, opening tech tickets, calling and just waiting, waiting, waiting with no real results. Some of it I think is due to the ticket system, but then when I spoke with customer care they too did not follow up. I decided that perhaps the service is just too new in my area and that it was requiring too much of my time to get it up and running. I was credited for the service, but will end up paying for shipping to/from BVD. I would not have minded being a "beta" tester, if it had been clearly spelled out to me. I would not have minded waiting if someone had taken the time to keep me informed of what steps were being taken.

The last time I had any communication it was "esclated" but no results.

I was also suprised that when I opened a ticket to cancel, they answered quite promptly, but never asked why or asked for another chance. I would hope they would want to know why a customer cancelled and apply then that knowledge to future customers or existing customers problems.

I do hope they get there systems sorted out, and wish them every success. For me I will wait and see what happens before I try them again.
