    My Other Reviews·RoadRunner Cable
I was with another service that started rapidly going downhill in the stability department and lagging behind providing features that were important to me. Mostly, I wanted, aside from basic reliability, 7 digit dialing, Caller ID with Name, voice mail that WORKED and a LOCAL telephone number, so that friends and family wouldn't have to call a city, long distance, 2 1/2 hrs. away. I bought a Sipura 2000 from Voxzilla, and it came with a coupon for a FREE trial from VoicePulse with all activation charges waived. I decided to try something different and give it a try. They activated me immediately, and gave me a LOCAL number in my town. Much to my amazement, I was TOTALLY blown away. It was as different as night and day from the other service! I not only had the features I wanted, but every conceivable telephone feature possible. Check out their feature list, and you'll see what I mean, as I couldn't possibly list them all here. They ALL work. Perfectly. We've totally forgotten that we're even on VoIP at all! It works that well. After a few months, I ordered another number with their Open Access Plan, in another area code where I have friends for only $5.00 a month. There's no "junk fees" added onto their rates, like my former service started adding. Everything works as advertised, customer support is STELLAR, and in New Jersey, USA with knowledgeable, efficient staffing. They've made a BIG FAN out of me, and I heartily recommend VoicePulse to ANYONE wanting VoIP service that's painless, and does everything it's supposed to do... just like the wired POTS service you're used to. It's companies like VoicePulse that will bring VoIP into the mainstream, and make 100 year old telco technology obsolete.

UPDATE 08/17/05: The service continues to be SPECTACULAR. I've since added an Open Access line on another Sipura. Their support people are highly helpful and extremely friendly, resolving problems with efficiency. There have been a couple of minor system outages for some subscribers, but only one affected me. Having been with other providers, I don't have a problem with this... as I know it could be MUCH worse. Call quality is perfect, features work INCREDIBLY well and the price is right. We really have totally forgotten that we're not on POTS, it's that reliable.

UPDATE 12/13/05: Recent upgrade to Voicemail system has certainly made the service flawless. I've recommended VP to several others over the last few months after they've tried other services, and they share my enthusiasm. Their customer service and tech support continues to be top notch, as well.

UPDATE 02/18/06: I suppose I'm just spoiled! I can't imagine VoIP service being any better than this. Outstanding reliability, support and call quality. You can't ask for anything more than those things, worth every penny!

UPDATE 05/11/06: Service continues to be solid as a rock. I can't possibly wish for anything more than what VoicePulse offers. It's not #1 in customer ratings for nothing! Perhaps my only wish is that there was some kind of customer referral incentive, as I've signed MANY people up to the service. :-( Maybe Ravi could spring for a nice high end two line multi handset phone?

UPDATE 12/12/06: VP is BORING! No outages, perfect quality, no drama, no problems, no glitches, nothing to tinker with. Just perfect phone service, period. I have forgotten what it was like to have problems with a telephone. It's just always there. Thank you for being the BEST, VoicePulse! I have recommended to MANY people and they are ALL as enthusiastic as I am.

UPDATE 02/16/07: For longevity and reliability, they have NO peer. This IS THE VoIP service for consumer telephone. I've recommended even more folks to them, and they are SO happy to have ditched their former service. You don't know how good the technology can be until you've lived with VoicePulse in your home. Switching to VP was the best decision I've ever made in my life... but don't tell my wife that... she thinks it's marrying HER.

UPDATE 07/18/07: No drama, no outages, no problems, ever. It just works! Everyone I've recommended to VP has been 100% satisfied, particularly the ones that were lured into "bargain basement" fly-by-night deals that gave away free phones, promised the World and never delivered. The English-speaking, US-based, knowledgeable techs are the best, bar none. In my house, it's just "the phone". VP would be a bargain at any price! I've even forgotten how long I've been with them, could be 3, 4 years. I forget. It's just perfect.

UPDATE 01/24/08: The lack of stimulating drama continues. (YAWN!) It's a full-featured phone. It just plain works. "If you've tried the rest... try the BEST, VoicePulse!" That's about all I can add to everything else I've said in previous reviews. Love it!

UPDATE 08/05/08: My 5th year with VoicePulse! Again, there is NOTHING at all that I can say that I haven't already. It's the BEST, PERIOD. I wouldn't switch to another service even if they GAVE it to me for FREE! (They'd have to PAY me, actually, on top of FREE service... )

UPDATE 02/12/09: VoicePulse continues to impress beyond belief. Their techs will bend over backwards to assist in even the most minor problems. Don't even think about toying around with the latest "VoIP du Jour". This is as good as phone service gets, period. I only wish there were ratings higher then 5 for this service.

UPDATE 01/18/10: VoicePulse continues to satisfy beyond my wildest expectations. The best customer service, and stellar voice quality. I don't know why everyone doesn't have VP. The best.

Update: System again wants me to update...and still it's great!!

Update: System wants me to update my review well 3.3 years later and still going great!

Update: Still great reliable service, very rare to have an outage and the feature set is the best. Highly recomandable to anyone who can get it

Update: A year later and still rock solid...great service

Update: Just an update on my review, the service has been rock solid for months now and wanted to reflect that in my review.

    Nia

Ordered service in Oct 04, recieved the ATA within a week. Setup was quick and easy. Had some initial line problems that Techsupport was quick to help. There was the switch upgrades that made the service spotty around Thanksgiving but since then it's been rock solid.

Only have had one outage since then that was due to one of their routing partners.

I initially set this up in conjuntion to a land line, after a few weeks I ordered call forwarding on the land line and forwared it to VP. In Jan with the service showing itself to be nice and solid I started an LNP from Verizon to VP. It only took 2 weeks before the nunber was ported over and the old service was disconnected.

Nobody noticed the change in service besides the voice quality being better, my phone bills have become a nice predictable low amount. If I could get my wife to use the internet BigYellow for directory assistance my bills would be the same each month.

I went from about 60 dollars a month to under 20 a month, my wifes sister lives in the next town over from us, to Verizon that is a toll call, go figure, but with the larger area code coverage with VP people that are about 100 miles away can be local to me.

I'm very happy with the service and would recomend it to anyone.

I also have set up and told the folks in the family that in an emergancy to dial 91# for the local police or to use their cell phones, since we have 5 phones in the family that have E911 it's not a concern not to have it with VP.

First of all they False Advertise, they said unlimited incoming call with DID, but I got the call yesterday and they said two of my accounts using too much minutes ( more then 2000) and that I have to go somewhere else. Can you believe that?

Also for outgoing calls they pulling a big scam, if you put $20 prepaid for the outgoing calls, when the balance will drop below $0, they will charge you $20 fee for that. I mean this is a prepaid, the whole idea is to put some money for that time I have money.

P.S. I'v been using VoicePulse for 2 years now, and first they lost me as a client because of outgoing prepaid issue, but I still left them all my clients with outgoing calls, and now I have to take all my clients elsewhere.

Stay away. They False Advertisers and scammers.

There's some part of the story we don't know

There's some part of the story we don't know here because it is extremely rare to hear about VoicePulse invoking Terms of Service on an account and shutting it down without a good underlying reason.

As far as the fee for going negative, I'm pretty sure you saw these items during sign-up, since you're required to check the box next to each one to complete creating an account:

    * I understand that I must keep a positive balance in my account at all times.
    * I understand that VoicePulse will make every effort to keep my balance positive and phone service active, including correcting a negative balance situation by adding funds to my account even if auto-refill is off.
    * I understand that I may be subject to a negative-balance fee if my account reaches a negative balance in an attempt to deplete remaining funds.

VoicePulse makes every effort to keep your phone service active, even if your IT guy is on vacation and forgot to add more credit, which is appreciated by most of us. If you don't want a negative balance fee, don't overuse your service. That's how it works in real life.

Re: There's some part of the story we don't know

    Agreed.

All VoIP providers have restrictions on "unlimited" accounts, especially if designated residential accounts.

Many PAYG providers have auto-recharge provisions and/or fees for going below zero.

The review seems to be more of a tirade.

When people see tirades, they discount them.

Re: There's some part of the story we don't know

if they have limits on incoming calls then PUT IN ON THE WEB SITE, and loose most of the business, because who will want to deal with a company who has limits on incoming, when plenty of companies who does true unlimited.

The idea with unlimited calls is like in food buffet, that with some clients you loose and with most clients you win. VoicePulse only wants to win.

I have 10 clients there, 8 are not using too much and 2 voicepulse blocked, so i'm taking all 10 clients out. Who is winning now damn voicepulse. This pushed me to go out there and do a research for a new company, and I did find a better one. But I had a lot of stress and headache for 2 days.

My point is if I knew that this would happen, I would NEVER EVER dealt with voicepulse. So new clients STAY AWAY from VOICE PULSE

I have had this service for a few years. The main reason is they were able to offer me a phone number in my little Long Island town. The quality was good at first and then over the last year callers were frustrated that they could not get through and the poor voice quality. VoicePulse also arbitrarily took away one my phone number and assigned me a different numbers without asking me. That was a pain in the rear and was the deciding factor for me to go elsewhere.

My number one priority in seeking a VoIP provider to port my POTS landline to was quality. Second was price. Based on quality reviews and price comparison VoicePulse was the winner. And it was a great choice.

I chose the Local + 200 package, as 95 % of my calls are within the Metropolitan New York area, and it is unlimited with the plan priced at $14.95/month. The 200 long distance minutes included with that plan generally more than cover my usage for such.

The order for service went smooth. Although I considered accepting a device from VoicePulse, I happened to use my own device (PAP2T-NA) so I wouldn't need to return it upon discontinuing service (whenever that may occur; there is no commitments/contracts with VoicePulse.) I placed the order over the weekend, and received the instructions for service when there office opened the following Monday. (Somehow I hadn't received it via e-mail.)

After having the service for a few days, and noting it functioning well for both voice quality and service, I ported my wireline number from a CLEC (in a Verizon ILEC region). The port was completed precisely 7 days after requesting it from VoicePulse. And service thus far has been near landline quality.

8/31/09, 11/17/09: All's well that runs well. Nothing but satisfaction with VP.

10/18/2009So, I have had the service for about 5+ years I guess, and it works flawlessly. I would comment on how quick tech support is to respond; however, I never need them. My mom and a few of my friends have the service now and also are quite pleased. It would be nice to see some updated features, etc.; however, I am happy with what I have.

If you are trying to decide what to go with... Get VoicePulse. If you want a free month of service, msg me and I will gladly refer you. I still have my SPA-2100 but I think they are going with newer devices now. I have no need for a landline because they are full E911 compliant. I also have my mobile (just in case the power goes out).

    -----------------------
    Previous posts:
    -----------------------

I ordered my SPA2000 from voxilla and did second day. It shipped same day and it took voiceuplse about 18 hours to provision my account... Maybe less after signing up for it. You have to wait until you get your device to set your account on VP up. I am really happy with my decision to get service with VP, I only wish they had LNP. They told me it would be a couple months before they start, but they are going to offer it in the near future. And you can not beat the price!

    UPDATE
LNP (Local Number Portability) is in progress for my old line. It is not officially being offered, but they are doing it for me. VoicePulse seems to be growing fairly rapidly. I rarely have any issues, and the ones I do are usually ISP related. (The cable signal is not the best at certain times of the day... They are supposed to be fixing that.) The price is so good that I hardly even notice paying for it every month. I would recommend this to anyone.

    Another Update...
LNP took a little while but that was over a year ago... I am totally satisfied with the service. There is 911 coverage but not E911 in my area I guess; my cellphone offers E911 anyway and we have a wired line (my roomies company pays for that). I would recommend VP to anyone and actually have to several of my friends who are also satisfied. NO FAKE FEES/TAXES!!

Yet another... I never have any issues anymore, it is as reliable as VoIP can be. Which for me seems to be around 100%! It's cheap and has pretty much everything a person could think of.

    My Other Reviews·Comcast
I am back giving this company a try again and they have been perfect! Features are awesome. I am still doing BYOD since I already owned my equipment. I am using the unlimited local + 200 plan for $14.99 since most of the time we use our cell phones anyway. Recently, Comcast has developed an issue with the up link which used to be 5Mbps (I have the 22/5 service on DOCSIS 3.0) and now I am seeing only 512Kbps MAX. So, I lowered the bandwidth from max (64Kbps) to the next down, which is 40Kbps (G726-40) and it sounds as good as the higher bandwidth and is getting me through the downtime with Comcast (so, should I review Comcast? I will wait until after they fix this same problem yet again!). Skip Vonage and use VoicePulse is my honest opinion.

    ---

I tried these guys when I was considering abandoning my Viatalk line. These guys were almost exactly what I was looking for. Voice quality was perfect. They had a little issue getting me setup because their E911 verification vendor failed my address for some reason (no other provider has had that issue), but they resubmitted the next day and it was fine ... but the usual configuration emails didn't arrive [due to the exception I am sure]. Tech support was prompt and accurate and had me up and running in minutes .. all via online tickets. I did call them a couple of times and got either immediate answer or as long as a 10 minute hold time ... not too bad.

The only thing I did not like is that they make you reset your adapter (mine was a PAP2T-NA) and downgraded the firmware and took over line 1 provisioned and locked me out of the admin features. To their credit, the service worked flawlessly. THe ONLY reason I didn't stick with them was because the CEO of Viatalk came to the DSLReports forums and personally offered to remedy issues and he did, almost immediately, and I am prepaid until April 2009.

    Voicepulse -- HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Had to visit VoicePulse website to see if I could block some annoying 800 telemarketers. I thought that I had the telemarketer feature turned on and do, but it doesn't block if the telemarketer provides a CallerID tag.
I was greeted by a redesigned website with easier navigation and was able to find the section to block specific numbers in a few clicks. Then used the search feature on calls received to narrow down my suspects and added the two offending telemarketers. They will now be greeted by a "line no longer in service" tone and message.

Thank you for making this task, that would be impossible/cost extra through traditional Bell companies easier.

I wasn't able to get a fax sent on a Samsung CLX-3175FN to successfully transmit over VoicePulse.

    (Original review from 2007)
After SunRocket burned out I needed to find another phone provider. I didn't want to go with either of the SunRocket "approved" phone suppliers. Instead I turned to BBR and looked at the rankings. At the time VoicePulse was #1 and so I went with them.

Ordering was pretty easy, just sign up on their website. Initial charge was $54.97 for activation fees and first month phone service. It took a while for the VoIP adapter to be shipped, but once received all I had to do was connect everything and it just worked and has been working since then.

Their website feels little "old", but it works and gets the job done.

    Re: Features?????

I'll rephrase then. There are some features that are included on other providers that have fees at VoicePulse. For example absolute forwarding has this disclaimer on the my account section "Forwarded minutes on local calling plans will be 3.9¢ per minute."

This statement contradicts the "Call Forward is Free with VoicePulse" that their pre-sales literature states at »www.voicepulse.com/features/adva···ard.aspx

This feature was included with the SunRocket plan with no per minute charges. Another option that I had with SunRocket was the ability to record a custom voicemail greeting. That was a really nice feature VoicePulse gives a rather generic greeting that goes something like "Extension is unavailable. Please leave a message." Maybe there is a way to do this with VoicePulse, but I haven't found it (and yes, I have looked through their website.)

Don't get me wrong though, I'm happy with my price and would rather pay for call forwarding on the off chance that I actually need to use it than have a higher priced service. The call quality and reliability of VoicePulse are what make them top notch.

yes, Virginia, you can record out going voicemail

I read somewhere that forwarding is free with "Unlimited US" plan ($20/mo); but it costs with "Unlimited local" that you (and I) have.

However, on the occasions that I actually used this feature - there was no charge. Don't know, if it's a glitch in a billing system, or "underpromise - overdeliver" but who am I to argue

There is a way to set a personalized announcement on the voicemail - I know, because I have it But it was awhile since I set it up; so don't remember exactly.

I've been with them for a year and a half, and very happy. However, $10 more for open access seems excessive; and the web site is quite clumsy. Also, it would be nice if they allowed peering - they block both incoming and outgoing VoIP calls.

Just to be clear - they block IP (URI) calls. You can, of course call by the phone number... the old-fashioned way. But you can't, for example, call through SIPBroker or from FWD unless you have $10/mo extra "open access" plan. See »www.sipbroker.com/sipbroker/acti···itePages for example.

Port of AT&T CV to VoicePulse. Purchased my own ATA (Linksys PAP). Placed order, got email confirmation, then.....nothing. Placed a call to VP customer service. Responsive, apparently I never got the BYO start email with the account info. Sent instantly with the port documentation and instructions.

Tech support is email only. So placing my PAP on the net, they couldn't locate it for several days. Finally placed it on raw net and they located it and started the service up.

Faxed over CV port info and after 48 hours I got a notice from VP that my port was complete. Call Vantage emailed me the following day with a "please port your number" request which I took to mean that the port was complete at their end now.

The DLink ATA for AT&T went amber the next day (offline) and I completed a 3 hour bridge on the VP service with no major issues.

Smaller issues....after being on a call for several hours I could count perhaps 2, maybe 3 clicks and pops that were voip related. All of the people on the listening end say the voice quality is excellent. I can't discern any voice quality differences between VP & AT&T which is a plus since that is what I liked about CV.

The AT&T web portal was much better than VoicePulse. VP is somewhat spartan. It wasn't at the top of my choice list, but it is not competitive IMHO. More to come as I use the service.

    Where are your scores?

You should rate them in the different categories(the little 1-10 rating system or whatever).

Also, you can call support directly using their customer service number. If you chose to contact them through the support portal, they typically call you back anyway.

I used AT&T CV as a beta tester and I recall the voice quality being exceptional compared to Vonage and even POTS. I also had Vonage at the time and could tell a difference between Vonage and AT&T CV, with AT&T being much better. I couldn't tell a difference between AT&T CV and VoicePulse though. Good luck, hopefully you won't have any more issues with your service...
