I've had this service at no choice of mine. This is the only gig in town that offers high speed and believe me and he acts like it. The service is poor at best and when you call you get an answering machine with no call back. The service has been down for two days with no calls to customers and never a returned call. There is not tech support so if you don't know what you're doing stay with dialup. Bottom line is HasletWireless is a joke and at 80 dollars a month they should be arrested. This is what happens when you're the only thing in town and have no morals.

Haslet Wireless is a small ISP, but serves a pretty big area.
I emailed on Saturday, 28 August 2004 for a site survey. (This is required to ensure that you do not have any line of site blockage.) Got a call back on Monday, 30 August with an appointment for Tuesday, 31 August at 1730. Mr. Varner was running a bit behind, so he didn't arrive unitl 1800 - no biggie. After confirming the LoS was good, we scheduled for Saturday, 4 September at 0900. Mr. Varner arrived as promised and was up and running about 90 minutes later.
I had ordered thte 512/256 package and have been getting pretty consistant speeds like the following that I did this AM:
2004-09-07 07:10:16 EST: 513 / 280
Your download speed : 526173 bps, or 513 kbps.
A 64.2 KB/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 287035 bps, or 280 kbps.
and this is WITH the PPPoE overhead!
This is my first experience with a WISP, but I am pretty impressed with what I've seen and the connection reliability, thus far. There is no other choice for broadband in my area - and according to SWB and Comcast, won't be for a looong time - so this was my only option. If you are in Mr. Varner's area, it is worth it to give him a call! Support your local small business man!!

Wait for DSL or Cable to arrive, you will get WAY better support, higher speed connections, PUBLIC ip addresses without having to spend an extra $5 each month, and an overall better internet experience.
