Zia Net is the only ISP who offeres a broadband connection (via wireless) in my area, with speeds "up to" 1.5MB Down and 1.5MB Up, for $45 a month. And since its better than 56k, I chose to go with them. Let me tell you though, if I had a choice, I would go with someone else in a heart beat.
It took over 3 weeks from the time I called, and they claimed that I was set up and ready to go, with the equipment on my roof, to actually get online.
Then, once I get online, I get disconnected almost every time I try to do something other than browse the web. And even that will do it sometimes.
The speeds are horribly unreliable, I would say I get the speeds I pay for about 35% of the time, I get tollerable speeds about 40% of the time, and the remaining 25% I get so frustrated with the line I just turn off the computer and go watch TV.
If you plan on using Zia Nets wireless service, forget any plans you might have of using Torrents. I am currently in beta for an MMORPG that only offers its download through a bittorrent link, and the game is about 1gig. Everytime I ran the torrent, and tried to use a IM program at the same time, it would kill the connection almost instantly. If I ran just the torrent program, the line would die just about every hour or 2. Which makes for a very very long download processes.
And if you plan on calling Zia Nets tech support, expect to know more than them about everything. The guy on the other end of the line couldnt tell me ANYTHING. I felt like I was troubleshooting him, not the other way around.
Over all, I would say I am dissappointed with my service from »www.zianet.com but it is still better than Dial Up. So if you live out in the sticks in Southern New Mexico like me, and cant stand Dial Up, Zia Net at least frees up your phone line, and loads web pages faster. But if youre used to quality DSL or Cable lines like me, then you will most like want to rip your hair out those times when you just want something to download without killing your internet connection and forcing you to reconnect.
(In fact, its funny, my net has appearently died while I sat here typing this review, see what I'm talking about?)

i have been with many isp's and never found one i really liked. when i started working for zianet, i got an 'employee discount' and have had no problems. of course there will be the occasional outtage in areas or with devices/equipment, but when customers call in with problems, we dont brush them off just because it isnt internet related. but as far as my dsl service goes, i love it. i run 2 virtual domains off of an apache server on a linux system and play online games and other downloads on my pc behind a single static ip. 640k is my advertised speed, and i show connections around 550k to 535k which is reasonable. ) the reason it took 14 days to get online was the fault of ups. when i asked them to forward delivery (the modem kit) to my work since i missed them on my off time, then they reattempted without forwarding, and tried again. they eventually lost my package and later found it a couple days later.

I currently have DSL in Farmington, NM with Zianet (from Las Cruces, NM). Zianet has been a joy to deal with. They are worked with QWEST to deliver my DSL router and service inside the 2-4 week promised window (2 1/2 weeks). Zianet conferenced with QWEST to solve my connection problem, which turned out to be a defective router. I can happily recommend Zianet for your DSL needs in New Mexico!

We got great information during our pre-sale period. Tech support was very helpful and followed up. Equipment from Valor Telecom arrived swiftly and they too were helpful in giving us information. It took less than a week after we ordered until we had the equipment and the line activated. ZiaNet called us and guided us through the installation process. They offer static IPs - however I believe they forgot to set that up for us. Anyways the DHCP assignment of IPs work well and we still have the same address, so we might just let them know they forgot to give us a static ip and remain dynamic. No login procedure required. You are instantly on the net and can connect several machines to the same DSL modem using a HUB or switch.
The downside is that we don't get close to the bandwidth we paid for. During good periods we might get 500kbit/sec, but average 200-300kbit/sec on our 768/128 line. Uploads almost always gets close to 128kbit/sec. We've notified tech support about this and haven't heard from them since. Post install tech support seems to be less good.
Also they require a 12 month plan for subscription. Valor Telecom charges $30 per month for the line and ZiaNet $20 for the bandwidth. Static IPs are $5. You can apply for a subnet or parts of a subnet too.
The line seems mostly to be reliable. We haven't experienced excessive packet loss so far. And the few times it did happend, it might have been outside ZiaNets network.
We haven't used the mail or news service provided as we have our own. DNS is good.
