Moved in May-08 and called to get service relocated to new address. Was told to let tech that arrives know that I want to keep my old email and login information. My service was same as old address, Digital Preferred w/ 1 Premium (HBO), 1 DVR receiver w/ HD, 1 standard receiver, high speed internet service (up to 12Mbps). Day came for install to new home and TV installation went fine, at first. Tech then went to do install of internet and problems began. Modem would not connect for him to set up. Tech told me Comcast issues "refurbished" modems for installs and most always never work. Tech ended up going through 3 modems before finally being able to connect. When I told tech I wanted my email and login info ported over to my new account, as instructed by customer service, he had no idea what I was talking about. Ended up telling me I would have to go through customer service to get this done. Tech left. A couple hours later the DVR started acting up, not able to change channels and freezing up. I had noticed on the DVR that the face plate that had the logos showing what the lights mean was on backwards (guess their modems are not the only thing they do new installs with). I called Comcast customer service and they sent a tech out, different guy, who seemed more knowledgeable and swapped out my DVR for one that looked new and worked find from there on. It then took about 20 days of hounding Comcast customer service to get my email and login setup ported from my old account to the new one. Reps always seemed bothered by having to handle the issue. Throughout the past months I had experienced picture pixilation(lasting for a second) every once and a while and the modem losing service at least once a month for about 5-15min at a time. The other day the internet modem (Motorola 5101) started rebooting on its own every 1.5min. I power cycled for 5-10min but didn't help. Called Comcast customer service who had me take modem to payment center to swap out. Brought new modem (probably a refurb, was not in retail box, in a zip lock bag) home and same problem happened. After another hour on phone with Comcast they scheduled an In-Home tech to come out the next morning. Next morning the modem had stopped rebooting and appeared to be fine. Tech still showed up and found that the Upload Frequency was way too high and said that a Line Tech would have to be scheduled to come out and fix high frequency from street level. Was told this tech would not need to come into our home. I told tech, and customer service, that I want this tech to come in and test signal from inside home once he fixes problem outside to confirm all is as it should be. I had to keep calling back until I found tech was schedule 2 days later but was not given a realistic timeframe, only 8am to 8pm. Tech had not shown up as of 7:45pm. Comcast service and support are terrible, customer service personnel are rude. I will be shopping for a different provider. If you have other options to Comcast that will offer the same or better product go with it.

The price includes Standard Cable, Internet alone is about $45 with the bundle. It works fine, but I really miss OOL and the 15/2. This package is 3/768 and it's like driving a Yugo after having a Porsche for a few years.
Update: 4/10/2008
I had to call for help today when my internet went out this morning. It was sputtering so I let it be but when it hadn't come back on by 3pm I had to call. Thankfully I got a really good guy who didn't make me go through the script. I told him I had already power-cycled the modem and router and the modem was stuck on flashing 'send'. He tried to connect to it, then remembered that it wasn't online. The tech came out, changed a bunch of ends (apparently you *shouldn't* let an electrician put the connectors on), replaced three splitters, gave me three more because I asked for one and is getting the drop replaced. All for the remarkable sum of $24. Not bad at all, and less that one new splitter would have cost me. All in all, Comcast really came through for me today - how often do you get a tech on the day you call? Within 90 minutes of your initial call no less.
Update 10/12/2008
Well, I moved to the next town in June and am having more problems. My connectivity is much flakier but I don't know if that's because of Comcast or the wiring in the apartment house basement (it's a jungle down there!). I was constantly having to power cycle so I ran a new run of coax to bypass a second splitter. It's a bit better now but I think I'm going to have to have the tech come back out and replace the old double-cable that I know it about 15 years old (since the old ATT two-channel days).

Comcast took over RoadRunner in my area. The *only* good things are the upload speed boosted to 2Mbit on the 8Mbit plan. Powerboost is OK too.
Tech support is mostly useless. Pre-sales don't even know what options are available in the area, and aren't knowlegeable in Comcast's own marketing terms like "Powerboost".

Switched from DSL to RoadRunner, then Comcast took over. A little rough at first, but none of the horror stories others have endured.
Paying a little extra for "Workplace at Home",but business class tech support is worth the extra cost in my opinion. I have been known to call late Saturday night - 10:30 pm and have a tech show up Sunday morning, with a new modem/router.
The only negative point is the ability to use Vonage. Packets drop out at random during phone calls.

Comcast has the worst service period, whether it is broadband, cable or phone. I called to complain about inconsistent speeds reported by DSLReports well below what they advertise and was rudely told that there is no guarantee.
I work from home in technology and need a high speed connection, but at this point I would rather settle for a reliable DSL 6.0 mbps than Comsucks 300k to 12m. Right now I am getting 600k down and 156k up.
Whenever I call tech support while experiencing the slow down, they simply say - "I ran a test, nothing is wrong".

Very slow to respond to calls. Their outside on the street wiring was bad, along with 3 of their modems.
Okay, I finally broke down and got ATT uVerse. Beats the hell out of cable!..

I have been with comcast for about 5 years. I have been happy with service for the most part except for about a 4 week span of picture pixelized picture and poor sound quality. Now for Why I am changing.
As you see I pay ALOT and after years under there digital plan I bought a HD TV. After talking to the sales guy about upgrading I choose the 6.00 a month addition for HD. When I received my BILL
I have a 6.00 fee for HD 6.00 fee to rent the HD box and 7.95 fee for digital box AND change of service fees. I had NO rental FEES with the previous plan. The ONLY fee told to me was 6.00 PERIOD. After calling to complain discovered I could get the same plan with the DVR and ADD Phone for 15.00 LESS. Well I decided to drop the movies and try the Triple play combo. No I cannot get that only NEW customers get that. As a matter of fact to add the phone as told before I have to pay a 30.00 fee to try it. I asked the sales person why do they screw me for me being a customer and was told that was they way it is. Well Off to Millennium. For me to goto them I paid 1/2 of the comcast price for the SAME package. Their REGULAR price is 1/3 less. I would have never left had they just charged me 6.00 more for HD like they said instead of 21.00 plus change of service punishment fees. Comcast say what you mean and mean what you say. So I will save my first year 900.00 and 396 a year there after for the SAME plan. Thanks for being greedy Comcast I would have never known the savings
The night I wrote this review a comcast representative contacted to see if he could help. That I find is impressive that they read these reviews !. But after talking to 2 reps over the phone and being told there is nothing they could do it was to late. I already had Millennium installing that morning. When I called to cancel service funny that operator could have given me the Triple play at the 99 price to. Comcast needs to get their people on the same page. FYI Millennium Gave me EVERYTHING ALL MOVIES for that price... EVEN on analog I have 3 movie channels and far more channels under 100 than Comcast on analog. But their internet is no where near as good as Comcast in my opinion. But at 1/2 price I am happy.
Comcast is still attempting to charge me after I left. What is even more amazing is SALES knows I terminated service but BILLING has no record of it. Ask for a manager in Billing NONE AVAILABLE. These Guys really need to get a clue. Talk to SALES and ask to be transfered back to billing "can't do that" Ask if they can inform BIlling of termination and date of termination "can't do that". I guess having a monopoly in most areas gives them the attitude of morons. But comcast remember this ATT was a monopoly and where are they today. Your time is coming.
As to my internet comment I have read that comcast only boosts speed for the first 20 meg then they ramp it down. to the standard 6mps range which is really only 1.2. SpeedBoost is only a ploy to trick the download benchmark sites.(granted most request are short and yes I admit there are advantages)
»ask.slashdot.org/askslashdot/08/···34.shtml.
Again After posting my update on the billing I was contacted by Comcast and offered help. A third call finally resolved the issue so the gentleman from Comcast who emailed help was not needed. It seems Customer Service is hit or miss. When you get someone who understands their job things get done. It is the bad reps who really fire up people (at least me) with their uncaring uncooperative attitudes that set people (me) off. I will in fact get a refund. At least they tell me they will send an updated final statement indicating that.
Well I switch to Broadstripe for about 4 months 1/2 cost of comcast. Had issues
with both internet and finally TV. Now I am with Verizon FIOS. Picture quality is much better than comcast or broadstripe but only on HD, non HD is same with them all. FIOS has one feature that neither cable company had. you get 5 digital boxes capable of getting all channels but HD. FREE. Both comcast and broadstripe charge for that.
This make FIOS even cheaper.

AT&T DSL was considered but Comcast's Triple play was a better deal
I ordered the Triple Play with Digital Cable and HBO & Starz packages. I also upped my Download speed to 8M
Order and install was very smooth. The phone cutover was instantaneous.
They gave me a Motorola Modem and MTA in one ($3 per month)
The worst thing about Comcast is that they tried to jack the price up after the first year and would not bring it back down to the price I had until I threatened to cancel. When I asked the retentions person if I had to go through the same thing next year, she said yes that's how they work.
