    My Other Reviews·AT&T Yahoo
Ordered 1.5/384 package (dynamic IP) for $16.99/month. Ordered online only to find that SBC cancelled the order without notifying me. SBC's records inaccurately showed my home too far away from the CO to qualify for DSL. After requesting a "manual review" through SBC's emerging products department, SBC placed the order and setup was easy. SBC sent a SpeedStream 4100, and I run a Netgear WGR614v5 with WinXP machines. Connection has been rock solid, and there have been no problems with the service to date. I hope the same high level of service continues with AT&T.

NOTE:: DSL ordered January 2006, SNET known as SBC at that time.

I have had service for the last 3 years. I have no complaints all things considered. It's DSL so speeds are not as great as they could. I never have an issue accessing the internet and it's as fast I regularly need. I used to have eastern connecticut cable back 4 years ago when they first failed. I switched to satellite because of them.

I ordered SBC DSL in the summer of 2004, and upgraded to the 3.0/512 Pro package around April of 2005. During all that time I have had the following issues:

*The very first modem that I was sent shipped with exterior damage, so I had tech support replace it. I believe I was talking to overseas support that time, but the man was quite understandable and agreed to ship me a new modem almost immediately. No problems there.

*I am connected via an RT, and at the time, the SBC modems (Speedstream 5100s) did not perform well on RTs. I needed to get help from BBR, to get updated firmware. That fixed the problem.

*When I decided to upgrade to Pro, tech support told me I was too far from the CO. Once again, this turned out not to be the case (hence my poor score for install coordination). I was able to get Pro by going through alternate channels, though.

*There was also confusion about the price. They tried to charge me over $50/month for DSL Pro. I fixed that one by e-mailing billing support through the MySBC payment service. At the time, at least, different tech support workers had different information with regards to the promotional offers of the time.

*Every few nights, late at night, the connection will drop for a period of a few minutes. The worst outage in the history of my service was an outage that lasted about eight hours, but that's the only time I got an outage of that magnitude.

All in all, though, I've been pleased with the DSL, and do not regret ordering it. My only wish now is that SBC (now AT&T) will hurry up and upgrade their system to make it competitive into the next generation--Verizon at least has the right idea.

    My Other Reviews·AT&T Yahoo
After waiting a year for DSL, I finally got it. The user install was a piece of cake, but I did have everything in a check list before hand.

Configuring the router took the most time. I was connected about 10-15 minutes after I started.

After tweaking, I'm in the 1100-1240 down range, that's enough to keep me happy.

    9/03
I renewed for another year, at 29.00/month. Great service continues...

    2/04
Unfortunately, SBC does not carry on with the SNET tradition of great service, although they are willing to take credit for SNET's history. SBC has made service enhancement announcements, none of which have materialized for me. We get smoke blown when we ask why. I don't consider SBC to be the most credible vendor around....they've demonstrated that quite well in the last 6 months.

    4/20
Speed continues to be erratic. Varies from 400 to 1200.

    9/21/04
Once again, SBC blows smoke and sunshine at customers. We were told of an upstream speed increase, it was posted on SBC's site and verified. Some customers received it, some did not. No explanation, just typical SBC--market and don't deliver. I wish there was a viable broadband alternative in my area.

    5/17/05
In the past 6 months, SBC has improved the service to close to the old levels when SNET was king. Speed upgrades have been delievered, service is good/consistant.

Billing issues are par for the course, still working on finding the right combo of rates and discounts.

    2/09/2006
Connection still is rock solid, a tribute to the folks who built the infrastructure. Pricing is decent, I'm getting about 2.5M on a 3M advertised line (RT).

My only complaint is that the pricing gets too complicated and I'm not always sure what I am paying is what I should be paying and is what others are paying.

    9/15/2006
Connection is rock solid on the ELITE tier. I was able to get a very good price and have no complaints. Support through the SNET forum is excellent.

    My Other Reviews·AT&T Yahoo
As of Jan, 2006, we are running at 3008/512. No problems, except another big hassle with the sales lady, who really can't adequately explain the cost structure over the phone. Anyway, the line is working very well.

Finally got 1536/384 (down/up kbs) from a local RT, after enormous hassles with previous marginal copper circuit 384/384 to central office. The story is at »www.aa6e.net/dsl/ .

Now the service is reliable and it supports my home LAN (Linux, Windows, Macintosh) without complaint.

Billing list is $49.95, less $10 "all distance credit", but SBC/SNET makes you sign up for lots of other little services you may or may not want. These are charged as list prices, less various other "credits". All in all, they seem to work as hard as possible not to let you know what your true DSL price really is.

    My Other Reviews·AT&T U-Verse
I recently upgraded from basic to Pro and it went flawlessly. The whole thing took 4 days. Shortly after that my modem died and they sent me a new one free of charge. SBC / SNET is the best. No download limits or invisible caps, they encourage networking - MUCH better than those cable PIGS.

I've had SBC Yahoo DSL for a couple of years altogether now and it has been perfect. Very little downtime and when there is a reboot of the modem usually fixes it. Still no caps or limitsIt may not be quite as fast as I could get with cable but after a certain speed it doesn't matter. Plus it's a whole lot cheaper.

I have had the service for about a year and a half and have not been down once that I can remember. It took a long time to get the service to our area, but it was worth the wait! I placed the order on-line and followed up with a phone call because I could not believe the service was available to me. The modem kit arrived as scheduled and my service was ready and turned on a few days before my due date. The regular speed is fine for our needs. We use connection with a network of two computers. One is usually connected to a work location via VPN and the speed is still fine!

I would highly recommend SBC DSL over cable(which I had while waiting for DSL) in a heartbeat!

The SBC-SNET forum is the best tech support around!

    My Other Reviews·AT&T DSL Service
After using the service for over 1 year, I am very pleased. Hopefully, after the merge is completed with SBC/Yahoo, the email server reliability will improve.
I am using the 2wire Home portal and PPPOE.

After three good years of great service, I tried to upgrade to the Pro version and have been having connection problems ever since. Line tests indicated that I am capped at 2000kbps, so I returned back to the basic plan which always worked before. Nothing but heartache and constantly dropped signals now.
