I got tired of all of the downtime with my cable provider.....esp with email. DSL has more inherent latency, but is a very stable connection and I'm going to stay with it. I need a rock solid provider and Adelphia couldn't cut it for me. I'm on the 7000/968 plan and actually see 6500/750 all the time. Latency averages about 100 ms.
8-04-07- I have changed to the 1500/700 plan and it's working fine. Since going with DSL I've had virtually no downtime. I do have to reboot the DSL modem periodically, but other than that.......rock solid performance.
5-23-2008 - Very happy with Qwest service and uptime. Speeds are still 80% or higher than "up to" speeds quoted. Latency has actually dropped to an average of about 75ms since last year.
