    My Other Reviews·Comcast
    8.27.2008

Well I decided to go with Comcast and drop ATT. I just can't seem to get consistent speeds lately. My connection goes to below dial-up speeds at random. I have done all the normal troubleshooting that is suggested and nothing works. I have also spoke with others in my area and they are experiencing same thing. Ever since they put in that U-Verse, my speeds have gone to crap! Now on Comcast I get 14Mbps down and 1.7Mbps up. Big difference!! So, so long ATT, hello Comcast!

Well it's been a while since I have put in a review. I have had the Elite service and was grandfathered in on the 6016/600 package. New tier was available for this level and ordered it at 17/mo and upgrade went flawless. Was already at this speed. No issues with download speeds or upload. Upload actually went up to 768. Very NICE!!! Service has been outstanding!! Would recommend to anyone over cable. Keep up the great work!!!

Been a while since last review. Been very busy. Wrote this and thought of my review.»Thanks!

Service has been rock solid and no problems. Just a minor slow down for about a week or so. Many in the area experienced this. (thread from my area)

Beach Boy put up an update for all of us.

    »State of the union-amertech

This is what customer service is all about. The techs worked day and night to get to the bottom of this and found the problems in all of the areas. Thread is clear and simple so anyone could understand what was going on. You don' find this kind of service too often. Keep up the great work!!

A little late on my review since moving up to the Expert Plus package. But received the package on 2/11 and speeds were OK during the day but at around 5p they dropped off dramatically and line was unusable until it came back anywhere from 10-midnight. Called and opened a ticket. I was working with Beach Boy and he could only do so much since I am on a RT. So had an ASI tech come out and he got me up to where I could surf even during the bad times. Still wasn't getting very good speeds. So another ASI tech came out DSL2steps and he installed a splitter and speeds were rocking. 5.0/515. Then about a half hour after he left, everything went back to the way it was. Slow upload. So he came right back out and swapped out modems and put a 5100b in and haven't had a problem since. So I am very happy now. Running at about 5.1/515 consistently.

Here is my saga of problems that were corrected. »Sloooooooooooww Connection

Service has been rock solid. Have occasional sync no surf but a quick reboot fixes it right up. Haven't had any problems since last update. Service techs here at BBr/DSLR are outstanding. Don't know what we would do w/o them! Great job guys/gals!!!

Had a major slow down and speeds were way under what they should be. Beach Boy and Core Network worked to get problem resolved. No issues since the upgrade to the network since 1/30/2003. Been running close to 1300/250 consistently. Great job guys!

    Second order.

I had to reorder my service since moving. My DSL was supposed to transfer but was too far from CO. Then found out there was a RT that just opened up and was able to get hooked up on there. Still have a couple issues, but was related to sprint's routers going down. Not Ameritechs fault. Problem was fixed and still waiting for my speeds to increase. They ramp you up now so could take 10 - 30 days from close of order to make sure your line can handle the speed. Overall glad to be back and was shopping around as an alternative, but stuck with Ameritech.

    First order

I waited a few months before I decided to make post my review. Wanted to drive for a while before I could have an honest opinion. My experience with Atech was mixed in the beginning. I went round and round with tech support about a problem I had. I wasn't able to download for about 2 weeks. I had called to get a tech out to my house to test my line. I was promised they would be out to test. I took the day off work and they didn't show up. This happened twice. As you could imagine I was quite upset! They did all the work from the CO and never bothered to call me to let me know they did something. Well I was still having problems. Made several posts here at DSLR and got a lot of great suggestions!! Finally I got a tech to actually come to my house. The tech was great. The only problem was that he was a 3rd party tech hired by Atech. He tested my line and found the jack was bad. He replaced it and gave me a new modem. But I was still having problems. He was hell bent on trying to get me up and running, but his boss wouldn't let him. He was more upset than I was that he had to leave the job unfinished. Well it turned out my NIC was fried. I had the Kingston NIC that was sent by Atech with my self install kit. Thanks to RadioDoc for sticking with me during my troubles, he suggested replacing my NIC. Low and behold that was the problem and I've been sailing ever since.

Lately there has been a few problems with speed, but other than that, not alot of problems. I don't want to speak too soon but I think Atech is getting their stuff together. I would recommend Atech.

I haven't had many problems lately. I bought a Linksys router BEFSR41 and my connection has been rock solid! I would say that Ameritech has been doing a great job getting most of the problems fixed. Don't have much down time anymore. Can't remember the last time I've been down for over 5 minutes. Experienced some very slow surfing for about a week and a half. May have been UUNET problems. But over all I've been a very happy camper! I think I'll be sticking around for a while. Like I said, it beats dial up! And for the price I was paying almost that much for dialup and extra phone line plus call pack for that line. I think I'll be staying with Atech for a while. Things are getting alot better and will keep getting better. I would still recommend Atech to someone looking for DSL service.

Service has been great! I kept same IP for 730hrs without a disconnect. I really think Ameritech has their stuff together now. The updates they made really made a huge difference! Keep up the good work Atech!

Flashed my Linky a couple of weeks ago and now getting a consistent 653/136 and was getting 645/130 before flashing. Service has still been good. Only down once for about 15 minutes. Had to power cycle modem and was back up and running! Still happy with service.

    10.11.2001

Well 9 DSLAMs in our CO from what I hear blew on Sunday. Lost sync a few times for a few hours or more. Heard ASI fixed the problem and we are back up and running. Speeds seem to be a bit lower but only by about 7kbps. Not a big deal.

    11.19.2001

Since DSLAMs were fixed all seems good. Steady connection. Consistent speeds. Can't complain.

Inconsistent DSL speed when Uverse came to town

Same problem here in Orange Village, southeast of Cleveland - AT&T started to wire our village for Uverse in 2007, and now we have intermittent slow or no AT&T DSL connections. Calls to tech support have not helped, and we don't have time to wait for techs to visit our home. We are switching to Time Warner's Roadrunner over our existing cable hookup.

Ironically we were early adopters of Adelphia's original broadband over cable, but we switched several years ago to Ameritech->SBC->AT&T's DSL to have a more reliable connection.
