I signed up last May '07 before ATT took over. It is bundled with POTS for a $5 discount from the $32.95 cost. It was very easy. I asked for extreme 3mbps with free home wireless router. However my line only qualified for ultra 1.5mbps. They were nice enough to send the free wireless router modem anyway, and said they would upgrade me to 3 mbps when I qualified. A year later I still don't qualify. They sent a Westell Versalink 327W D90-327W30-06. It's a capable wireless B-G unit. I'm running WEP2 PSK (AES) on the wireless. I had trouble keeping a stable connection and called tech support several times (OUCH!). Tech support was competent, but reading a script; could be worse. My line stats stink. I couldn't get a truck roll but they put me on an interleaved noise profile. Connection is much more stable, but still manages to drop at inconvenient times. I'm not a gamer so I don't mind the interleaved connection. A simple ping gives first hop round trip = 30ms average and 22ms median. A ping along with a maxed out download gives first hop round trip = 88ms average and 92ms median. I don't game so I don't mind the interleaved. After repeated trouble with DNS servers, I fixed the secondary server to opendns. Primary dns is still att. Works well.
