    I ordered AT&T DSL service and switched from Charter HSI and Sunrocket VOIP in December of 2006. The ordering process was pretty easy but it took 3 weeks for them to port my number away from Sunrocket. And when my number did port and my landline started working, they had set my service up on the wrong port card. I was set up for the DSL Ultra service and was paying for Extreme 3.0.
    After a few hours they finally got it upgraded correctly after sending a tech out.
    I March of 2007 DSL Extreme 6.0 came to my area so I promptly upgraded. It took about 2 days and my speeds were upgraded. Now since I live less than 1/4 mile away from the DSLAM my speeds are very stable. The quality of the phone service is a different story though.
    I am just waiting for AT&T to replace the switch in my area with a digital one and maybe the fiber. Gotta love my wishful thinking.

    Update : 05/20/09

    I have dropped AT&T finally for Charter HSI and Phone and I ams very pleased. Call quality is much better and internet speeds are higher. I am getting 10 MB now. I just couldn't wait another god know how long for UVERSE.

    remember...installs are performed by contractors...contractors.. you get what you pay for!

    att has be using contractors heavily now for about 6 months. they are willing to lose customers to meet there bottom line...revenue!! they want MORE profit. it's a 250 billion dollar corp but still not enough. totally concentrating in uverse. dsl as we know it not important and nothing planned to maintain old technology. hopefully uverse gets here on time or else.... stare at the wall.
