.I've had Bellsouth FastAccess ADSL since the fall of 1999 and I'm a happy customer. This service is very reliable, I can remember having a total of 2 or 3 outages that whole time.
I started out with an Alcatel 1000 and a bridged/DHCP/dynamic IP setup. After 2 moves I'm now on PPPoE/dynamic IP. Advertised speeds are 1.5M/256K and I consistently get about 1.1M/225k. The service is great, I'll never go back to dialup.
Update: I am now on Bellsouth's new DSL Xtreme package which includes up to 3Mbps download X 384Kbps upload and free static IP. The Xtream package was rolled out on 4/10/04. I ordered online by logging in to my existing account and ordering the upgrade. I got a confirmation email including 2 order numbers within about 5 minutes, with an install date of 4/13/04. When I checked the order online the next day, the static IP order had been completed and the Xtream date had changed to 4/14. Around 12:30AM on the 14th, my modem lost sync and resynced, then I couldn't log in for a few minutes. After about 10 minutes had passed, my Linksys showed that I was connected at the new speeds. My speed tests vary but usually average around 2.6M/250-275. I get a steady 325 KB/s download speed from usenet, and a steady 30KB/s upload. I can live with that. So far so good.
