We moved into a brand new subdivision we were the 6th house built. We previously had Comcast and tried to get it at the new location but it was unavailable. Neither was FiOS which doesn't make any sense... If you build new, why not have the latest technology?
We ordered DSL on October 15th 2008. We did not have a line coming to our home from Verizon's equipment so this was a brand new line. Additionally we ordered just DSL aka dry loop or naked DSL, without a phone line. From the time we placed our order Verizon was good about sending e-mails with updates on my order. They told me over the phone that two technicians would be arriving at my house 1 to do the portion outside and another to do the portion inside.
Shortly after my ordering the service they changed my install date from the 26th to the 3rd of November. We received the modem on time but it had no filters (no need for them since this is a dry loop).
On my installation date I called Verizon to see when they anticipate they'd arrive. They had no clue, no one had any idea. There is absolutely no communicate between the Verizon line tech that installed my service and any customer service number that I tried calling.
Verizon did arrive and he was very professional. There was no two techs there was only one, and he refused to do any work within my home. Which is fine, I did not need them inside my home as I am a Network Engineer and know how to do what needs to be done myself. He ran a temporary line out to my house from their underground utility to the back of my house. The installer was Union and his craftmanship was clean and professional. He said they'd be out in a week to burry the cable.
When I went back inside the house my DSL immediately synched up.
Synch speed 3300 Down / 800 UP
Speed Test 2850 Down 650 Up
