The package I ordered was the only one available for DSL service at 100.0 Mbps. If there were any other choices, I wasn't told. I pay $24.95/month, along with $41.95/month for unlimited long distance. I ordered through my phone service provided USA telephone, but the actual provider is Verizon - they own the lines in my building. Dealing with USA telephone was a trouble free process, but that is because it was provided by USA telephone which is always a pleasure to deal with. Friendly, helpful - but they can't do anything when it comes to tech - as Verizon owns the lines. I received a WESTELL 6100 modem. My only other choice for high speed Internet was a cable modem and my local cable provider-cablevision-has even worse customer support and it is more expensive.
I hate calling Verizon's tech support, they read from a script to diagnosis a problem, and won't deviate from that script even when they can see from my history that their script will not solve my problem. When I do speak to a "manager" - which usually takes at least a half an hour, they always blame my unreliable connection to my set-up, my computer, my Ethernet cable - it is never something they can do anything about. ARGH.
