I have the 768/128 12.99 promo, but even after its over its still only $20 a month not including taxes. I don't feel that the internet is worth $40 a month, and I don't mind having to wait a few more seconds for a download as I don't have the fastest package. We can get fios, but we didn't need it.
Ordering online was quick, and easy. Was given an basic westell 6100 modem, but already had a wireless router anyway. The install was easy, just placed a couple filters around the house, just plugged in the router after making sure my wireless security was still in place, tried to browse a site to trigger their registration page, did their registration, and it was done.
Comcast in this area sucks, they only sell a couple packages, expensive, and way too much money. I had cable in the past, it was a 'professional' install by some random contractor, and this area suffered from bad equipment or extreme packet loss during peak usage hours. Also their dhcp, and dns servers frequently went down, however I could still get my connection to work still when I setup a static configuration from the last dhcp information. While the cable might be faster, I would rather have a reliable connection than deal with packet loss, and server outages.
Only real issue I've noticed is I have some high latency at times, however never had to call tech support for any problems.
We have two choices here Verizon, and Comcast, Verizon is the lesser of two evils...
