Update 12/30/2008:
Almost 2.5 years later and still excellent service. No down time (that I am aware of) and connection has been reliable while it is in use. I haven't checked to see if the 7/768 is available in my area because I really don't need the extra speed at this time. No comment on Tech Support as I haven't had to call them. Speed tests consistently show 2.7/600.
7/24/06
I called Verizon on 7/11/06 and signed up for a local phone line and DSL (up to 3000/768) in the house I bought. Since I was moving in and activating my phone on 7/17/06, they gave me a DSL ready date of 7/27/06 (10 days after phone activation.) I received the DSL modem package on 7/20/06. I received an automated email on 7/21/06 indicating my service was ready. I fired up my modem and sure enough, sync! Verizon earned some bonus points by beating their deadline by 6 days! Unfortunately I have yet to set up my computers and network so I can't give any speed tests. Pre-sales and signing up was easy and fast. I gave install coordination a "4" because they hooked up my phone and DSL to the second line into the house and not the main one. A quick phone call to Verizon had that taken care of within 2 hours. Overall a great experience. Once I have time to set up my computers and test things out, I will post an update.
