OK. Here's my quickie review of my experience with Verizon DSL on my own computer. Originally signed up online after getting the ad for the $29.95 a month for 1 year last week (4/7/05). Waited 24 hours for the order status page to show something. It didn't. So, I called Verizon to sign up the next day. Lady told me how far I was from CO (6,400ft) and that it is running off an ATM. No problem getting the 3Mb/768 speeds, she said. I ordered. My order status page went active immediately after. It had me down for 768/128 speed!! I immediately call back and ask about upgrade. That lady tells me I can only get upgraded to 1.5/384 until after my account actually goes live. My official live date comes (4/14/05). I fire everything up and lo and behold, I am still getting 768/128!! I call to get upgraded now. First person I talk to says my account shows provisioning for 1.5/384, but I'm not getting that. Do the re-boot thing. Same speed. Call 3 more times to verify upgrading status and now EVERYONE is telling me the BEST speed I can get here is 768/128!! Immediately cancel DSL and am back to being a happy 3/256 Charter cable subscriber!! Better luck next time Verizon!!

Well, it's next time!! Just got online 2-24-09 with the lifetime, or 2 year, whichever occurs first, contract for 7.1/768 for $37.99. So far, awesome! Speeds are within specs and this was actually an upgrade for me after coming from 9 years of Charter cable, which was awesome for me, but they started getting sneaky with their TOS and caps. I had their 5/512 plan. I'm a cheapskate as far as how much I'm spending on internet. Will update down the road.
