    My Other Reviews·Comcast
I setup Verizon DSL on a 2nd phone line when my Worldcom line was kicked out from under me by DSLi leaving the national market. I setup my 2nd phone line, line was installed. Verizon tech setup my phone line on the wrong cross-connect in my NID box in my building. I dug into the NID, found the correct pair, and hooked up my 2nd line to it.

Hooked up my Westell to the line, 2-3 days later, I had sync. No software (verizon online) had arrived, so I copied a Verizon Online 4.0 cd from a friend, installed on my Win2K box, and created my PPPOE username + passwd.

Plugged the line into my Linux router, configured PPPOE on Linux, and after some screwing around, got things up and running.

The line was flaky for the 1st week or so, and then it settled down. PPPOE connection goes down and forces a new IP every 3-5 days. Mail server is rock solid. News server is so-so. I hate PPPOE. I hate 128 kbps upload speed.

I personally hate Verizon, but the line works pretty well for what it is. But I am highly biased against them. Oh, and I never did receive my software/welcome package from them.

Hopefully my Cyberonic/Worldcom line will be up soon and I can dump Verizon ASAP.

Well, I have moved to the North End neighborhood of Boston, and my DSLi /MCI connection will not work here. Verizon just setup a RT access, and it is my only Broadband option, so I am back with the evil empire once again. It works, its fine. for what it is. Still crappy upload speeds, I am really hoping verizon will finally be dragged into increasing uploads speeds as ALL the other Baby bells in USA and Canada has done. Verizon is the last one Surprised? Not I.

Its stable and reliable, very little downtime, but just hate it.

    Death to the ILEC's.
