    My Other Reviews·Comcast
After 6 months not much to update. I did have an outage with Comcast after some bad storms in the area. My dual WAN router worked as advertised and my backup AT&T DSL connection took over my internet connect, albeit at a much slower speed. It remained active until Comcast was back up about 12 hours late.

I wanted a cheap backup for my other high speed provider. I have a dual WAN router so the capability was already there. I qualified for the $10.00 DSL plan from AT&T so this was an easy sell. The plan is not very fast, (768/368) but fast enough as a backup service. I can't really comment on my speeds as I rarely use the service however at those lower speeds I suspect I would rarely see any slowdown issues.

I was already paying Netzero for their $9.99 plan and used that as my backup dial-up plan. It was just a no brainer to get AT&T DSL for $10.00 monthly and cancel the Netzero plan. AT&T includes dial-up access at no extra charge with the DSL plan. Now I not only have a cheap high speed connection as a backup but dial-up is also included.

I did the self install. They shipped me the modem and all I needed to set myself up. I installed a new DSL NID that uses the Splitter and ran a homeline from the NID to the DSL modem jack so do not have to use filters on other equipment in the house.

If I had to complain about anything it would be the way the DSL modems have NAT built in. I am more used to cable which generally doesn't use that or PPPoE. It's been a slow learning curve. I finally switched my modem to Bridge mode and will see how that works. I just did not like seeing a private IP as my WAN IP. Confusing to me! lol

I have had no service issues so can't comment on that. Also I have no idea if the service is working most of the time or not. It basically sits in standby mode until needed. One day I might upgrade to a faster plan but really see no point at this time. DSL in my area cannot even compete with my Comcast plan.
