For over a year I have attempted to get an intermittent connection issue resolved on both the DSL and POTS lines. The problem appeared after a major ice storm, and only shows up in high winds or when it is wet - no DSL, bad attenuation, constant static on the POTS line, and no dial tone for hours on end.

The repair techs tell me it's my modem, DSL filters, phone, or wiring - ALL have been replaced - several times! The problem is CLEARLY in their lines, as it never showed up until the trees felled by the ice dropped the majority of thier lines!

Should a bolt of lightning strike my house and set it on fire during a thunderstorm, I would have no way to call 911 since I NEVER have a dial tone even in a light drizzle!

AT&T should be ashamed to pass crap like this off as customer service!

OK, it's been a while since the last repair tech came out and replaced everything from the splice on the pole to the interface. We've had several wet and windy days since then, and I am pleased to say that my service is better. I still am getting uncorrectable errors, but my connection has been live for 12 days without ANY disconnects. My speed is right where it should be, and the level of service on both DSL and POTS are back to where I expect it to be from AT&T. I am going to raise my scores of them to reflect this, but I am still upset that it took so long to get them to listen to me about these issues.

    May 11th update:

Last night we had a round of thunderstorms and today have some high winds, gusting over 35 MPH. Not a single loss of signal. As I suspected all along, it WAS in the wiring - once the drop to my house was replaced, there has been no problems. I even upgraded to Elite, since I have been waiting for a decent connection before I spent the money, and now I have the reliable connection I used to have.

    Maybe the drop

It sounds like the drop wire from the pole to the house is having the problem.......talk to a manager, have them send a tech to test & replace.

Drop, I believe you were right. I had mentioned this to the techs several times, but they didn't think it was the problem. Now that the drop was replaced, I have a MUCH better connection.
