I've helped 5-6 friends and neighbors install the basic DSL package. Smooth and without problems. Throughputs are excellent on the 1500 kbps connection. During this last 48 months or so, I can only think of 3-4 times that the DSL was off-line, and then only for a short-time and never more than a few hours. For the price, not a bad deal at all.
During November 2008, changed to AT&T U-verse PRO package. Superior to DSL in every way. Download is 2890 kbps and upload is 985 kbps. Just a terrific upgrade for the same price as DSL.
March 2009 - U-verse HD TV has been a challenge. In less than 5 months, we have 5 DVRs replaced and still we have some problems with that device. These are Motorola DVRs. Very frustrating to say the least. As a result, the entire AT&T experience must be rated poorly. Bottom line - I do NOTrecommend U-verse.
