Switched to SBC because DirectTV DSL stopped service, SBC was my only choice for my area. they made me pay 99 for modem and 50 to start service, kinda made me mad. also there 256 and 384upload is wayyyy to expensive!!! kind of makes me mad i cant get a cheaper and faster service such as covad or cyberonic. I wanted covad but they could only get me 256/256.
on the upside they did get my service up 3 days before it was due.
oh well i guess ill wait and pretend to be content...
UPDATE: March 10th 2003 -------------------------------------------------------
Well its been 2 months since I got service, it has been rock solid, literally 99.99% uptime!!! NOT KIDDING! much less of a mess than DirectTV DSL, which went down for hours every week. Speeds test steady at ~1300/140. Super happy, except for high price...
UPDATE: October 8th 2003 -------------------------------------------------
Connection is still great, switched to dynamic ip 29.95 deal. With the recent increase in upload capacity SBC is turning out to be a great value for your money.
UPDATE April 27 2005 ------------------------------------------------------ FINALLY got the 256kb upload OMG it only took them a year and a half!!!! Ridiculous...
Anyways, SBC is still working perfect. higher upload helps Vonage out. They did block outside SMTP server, makes it a pain in the ass to use my servers own SMTP for my personal email domain, but whatever...
UPDATE Feb 22 2008 ------------------------------------------------------ Still have this service. Works fine, they are still behind the times in speed and pricing. Hopefully competition will drive prices down soon. Uptime is great.
