After having many issues in the Northern Fontana area with Adelphia cable, I decided to drop them as my ISP and switch to DSL. SBC recently finished an upgrade in the area and was able to offer 6mbps/768kbps for LESS than I was paying for cable internet. I actually get 5000kbps/700kbps speed according to most speed tests I run.
I am using a smoothwall based firewall. My faster m0n0wall provided for 5200-5500kbps speed (but doesn't support uPnP).
I received the self install package with the speedstream modem and attempted to do the install myself. I then found out that while my phone worked, my DSL did not. Turns out, they didn't reconnect my house properly to the switch when I had my phone service disconnected in 2002. This was solved next day by a tech call.

| Time Warner AOL Dear God yes, anything is better than Time Warner, don't forget that AOL is part of Time Warner last time I check. TW is a failure to society. In my house we don't talk about TW or any of their services under this roof, it's one of those topics we don't talk about around here.
